Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • The candidate must have a strong desire to work with elderly or disabled individuals.
  • The candidate must be able to handle emotional and behavioral disturbances.
  • The candidate must be vivacious and patient in interactions with residents.
  • The candidate must be able to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as scheduled.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with daily activity programs to improve quality of life through promotion of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
  • Assist with daily announcements, including information, weather, and resident and staff birthdays.
  • Assist with fulfilling the sensory needs of bedridden individuals and LYFE participants.
  • Assist in planning the monthly activity calendar and suggest ideas for future planning.
  • Communicate with the Activities Director regarding daily problems, concerns, and issues involving resident behavior.
  • Work with volunteers during activities.
  • Orient and supervise volunteers along with the Activities Director.
  • Document activity attendance and complete individual participation records.
  • Attend care plan meetings when assigned.
  • Document the inventory of supplies.
  • Assist with and participate in scheduled outings outside the facility.
  • Communicate with community organization representatives who visit the facility.
  • Represent the Activities Department in the absence of the Director.
  • Attend administrative meetings as designated.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to conduct events.
  • Follow the standards identified in FutureCare's Statement of Corporate Ethics and Corporate Compliance Plan.
  • Report malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate department.
  • Report observed hazards to the appropriate department.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of experience working in a skilled nursing facility environment is preferred.
  • Previous experience in arts, crafts, and/or music is highly desirable.
