Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in energy consulting, electric distribution utilities, or similar.
  • 1+ years of experience relating to the electrical system design and planning/operation of distribution grid infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to work flexibly as part of a project team or independently as needed.
  • Demonstrated organizational, technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Motivation to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Ability to take initiative and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with power system planning, analysis, operational technologies, and/or financial analysis tools and methods.
  • Fundamental understanding of Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), DER Management Systems (DERMS) and electrical system modeling.
  • Understanding of Virtual Power Plants (VPPs), grid orchestration, and grid edge DER ecosystem and their roles in grid management and market participation for DER.
  • Fundamental understanding of communication and control protocols, and operational dispatch of grid edge devices.
  • Experience working on DER technologies and DER integration issues in the electric utility industry.
  • Fundamental understanding of utility interconnection processes and hosting capacity.
  • Master’s degree in engineering, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a team supporting clients in navigating challenges related to electric grid modernization, integration and orchestration of distributed energy resources (DER), advanced grid technologies, resilience, and decarbonization.
  • Help provide strategic and technical support for utility clients tasked with planning and operating the electric grid of the future amidst changing policy environments and evolving market conditions pertaining to DER, such as solar, energy storage, electric vehicles, energy efficiency, demand response.
  • Prepare and develop analysis, research, reports, presentations, and other deliverables.
  • Coordinate within and across ICF teams in complex engagements.
  • Engage with clients in project meetings.
