Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences, Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science or any degree demonstrating the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and four years professional-level evaluative, analytical and planning work.
  • Any combination of experience and education equivalent to seven years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skills for the classification.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate across ODFW Fish, Wildlife, and Habitat Divisions to identify fish and wildlife restoration and monitoring priorities and program needs consistent with the terms of the Monsanto Settlement Agreement and SB 1561 (2024).
  • Coordinate across natural resource agencies, tribes, and broader fish and wildlife experts to identify fish and wildlife restoration and monitoring priorities.
  • Serve as a member of an interagency team with the Governor’s Natural Resource Office, Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board (OWEB) Environmental Restoration Council Program Manager as well as the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) Environmental Cleanup Policy and Rulemaking Coordinator.
  • Help support the establishment and implementation of the Environmental Restoration Council and programs, consistent with SB 1561 (2024).
  • Prepare ODFW proposals to the Environmental Restoration Council to support agency programs and projects related to restoring, maintaining, and enhancing the quality of Oregon’s land, water, and other natural resources.
  • Research current trends in science, policy, rules, and guidance for fish and wildlife habitat restoration, remediation, and fish and wildlife monitoring.
  • Analyze and develop budget proposals, policy and rule, guidance, procedures, reports and fact sheets for Environmental Restoration Programs based on science, as well as political and public responses.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with the concepts and subject matter around fish and wildlife habitat restoration and environmental remediation.
  • Experience developing and analyzing policy and rule proposals and recommending action based on science.
  • Experience developing and recommending budget packages.
  • Experience working with boards and commissions and familiarity with public meetings law and/or advisory board governance.
  • Experience developing and maintaining relationships with traditional and non-traditional natural resource partners.
  • Experience applying principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and environmental justice in the development and implementation of programs.
  • Experience pursuing and leveraging funding opportunities to support natural resource programs and projects.
  • Experience tracking, measuring, summarizing and reporting on allocated funds.
  • Experience coordinating across natural resource agencies, tribes, and broader fish and wildlife experts to identify fish and wildlife restoration and monitoring priorities.
