- Graduation from an accredited Ultrasound program is required.
- A minimum of six months of job-related experience or equivalent is required.
- CPR certification is required.
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer certification is required.
- Registered Vascular Technologist certification is required for the Certified Ultrasonographer position.
- Independently perform ultrasound examinations, exercising judgment to recognize and record pathologies and abnormalities necessary to provide a diagnosis.
- Review patients’ medical records and clinical information to evaluate their condition and determine the diagnostic information sought by the physician.
- Summarize and document findings for radiologists, and communicate with referring physicians, radiologists, nursing staff, and other departments about the examination.
- Maintain current knowledge of the specialty by attending seminars and in-service sessions and reading journals.
- Assist specialty physicians with invasive procedures, such as amniocentesis and biopsies, by providing ultrasound guidance for needle entrance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
