Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development.
  • Graduate of an American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography approved school in Echocardiogram sonography or equivalent.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer certification, including successful completion of both the Sonography Principles and Instrumentation examination and the Adult Echocardiography examination.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification.
  • Ability to assess the condition of pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients to demonstrate requested anatomy through proper positioning and technical factors.
  • Ability to lift and transfer patients.
  • Willingness to rotate to different shifts and work areas as assigned and work overtime as directed.
Responsibilities
  • Perform all cardio-diagnostic ultrasound procedures according to the specifications and standards established by the Medical Director.
  • Attend Continuing Medical Education and in-service classes as required by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers to maintain current licensure.
  • Document patient examination history, unusual conditions, limitations, examination time, and technologist identification.
  • Enter and search for patient information in the Patient Scheduling System and Order Control.
  • Download echocardiogram images and archive all procedures in the DRS Picture Archiving and Communication System in a timely manner.
  • Perform safety inspections of equipment prior to use and report unsafe conditions to management.
  • Operate and maintain echocardiogram examination equipment and archiving systems.
  • Review cardio-diagnostic requisitions, verify examinations against physician orders, and check patient history and special instructions.
  • Greet patients, verify their identity, and explain medical procedures.
  • Provide educational information to family members regarding procedures as required.
  • Participate in organization-wide Performance Improvement Programs through orientation and education.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient care and medical records in compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act regulations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Minimum of one year of experience as an echocardiogram technologist.
  • Experience in pediatric and neonatal cardiac imaging.
  • Successful completion of the Pediatric Echocardiography examination.
