Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4+ years of relevant work experience in construction, design or inspections of buildings as supervisor or contractor
  • Must possess minimum of 1 inspector license and 1 plans examiner license or receive an inspector Certification within 6 months of hire and full licensure (2 total) within one year of hire
  • Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license
Responsibilities
  • Review construction plans and specifications for compliance with currently adopted standards related to mechanical codes. Prepare written reports approving or rejecting plans in accordance with the adopted codes.
  • Perform on-site construction inspections to ensure compliance with adopted codes, approved plans, and specifications; coordinate corrective actions, and conduct follow-up inspections. Record inspection results and plan review comments in permit tracking software.
  • Maintain records of inspections, violations, and corrections. This position will develop a strong knowledge of campus facilities to enable a smooth and efficient plan review/inspection process.
  • Represent the department in the area of expertise to various groups, such as architects and/or engineers, contractors, or subcontractors.
  • Prepare written reports approving or rejecting construction plans in accordance with the adopted codes.
  • Approve the installation of materials and methods for compliance with adopted codes.
  • Represent the department in the area of expertise to various groups, such as architects and/or engineers, contractors, or subcontractors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Current DBPR licenses in Plan Review and Inspections.
  • 5 years of experience as a Licensed Inspector/Plans Examiner.
  • Experience as a building inspector.
  • Relevant work experience in construction, design, or building inspections as a supervisor or contractor.
