Requirements
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a hotel Sales Manager or Conference/Event Services Manager in a four-star hotel.
  • Strong Food & Beverage knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Opera, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and CVENT is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work in an environment with multiple interests.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to work as an assertive, self-starting, self-motivated professional in a busy environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to change, handle many tasks simultaneously, and work flexible hours according to department, guest, and business demands.
Responsibilities
  • Offer professional, friendly, and engaging service.
  • Work with the Director of Sales & Marketing to oversee day-to-day sales and events leadership, including month-end activities, payroll, reporting, and forecasting and budgeting.
  • Conduct sales calls, site inspections, client entertainment, familiarization tours, and client interactions while meeting quarterly goals.
  • Prospect, qualify, and solicit business through sales calls, networking events, industry functions, and client meetings.
  • Negotiate guestroom blocks, meeting space, food and beverage minimums, and contractual terms to maximize hotel profitability while meeting client needs.
  • Prepare and present proposals, contracts, and presentations for prospective clients and groups.
  • Handle inquiry calls for small-group and catering/events business, execute the discovery process, and sell the hotel as the best fit for the business.
  • Compile and distribute conference agendas and event orders.
  • Attend group resumes, banquet event order meetings, and credit meetings as required.
  • Use Opera to track, solicit, book, produce event orders, and follow up on account activities.
  • Ensure that agreed contractual terms are carried out and maximize rooms and function space profitability.
  • Maintain accounts across social, corporate, and sport segments.
  • Develop monthly action plans to meet or exceed department and market-segment quotas; quote and negotiate prices within established parameters and confirm them through written contracts.
  • Build relationships between Sales and Operating departments.
  • Build a partnership with the Banquet team to maintain service standards.
  • Assist in developing new business ideas and promoting existing business across market segments.
  • Resolve guest complaints when necessary.
  • Conduct post-conference meetings with departing groups to address event strengths and weaknesses while soliciting repeat business.
  • Assist the Director of Sales & Marketing in leading, coaching, and developing team members.
  • Plan events with clients and assist with creating and distributing Banquet Event Orders covering culinary, banquet, and audiovisual requirements.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.
