DKSH Korea expands partnership with Novartis to strengthen hypertension portfolio. Wednesday, July 29, 2026 DKSH Healthcare has expanded its strategic partnership with Novartis in South Korea by adding the hypertension medicines Diovan(R) and Exforge(R) to its prescription drug portfolio. Under the agreement, DKSH Korea will manage local sales, medical affairs and marketing activities for both products, strengthening its presence in the country's prescription medicines market. The collaboration builds on DKSH Korea's existing prescription portfolio, which includes AstraZeneca's hypertension treatment Atacand and haematology and nephrology products from Kyowa Kirin. The agreement further reinforces the company's position in the Korean pharmaceutical market and supports the continued expansion of its healthcare business. Diovan and Exforge are established treatments for hypertension that have been widely used in cardiology departments and primary care settings across South Korea. DKSH Korea plans to use its existing commercial, medical and marketing capabilities to expand the market presence of both medicines. As part of the partnership, the company also intends to recruit additional professionals with expertise in the products and the local pharmaceutical market to support the continued growth of its prescription drug business. The expanded agreement reflects DKSH's strategy of strengthening access to prescription medicines through partnerships with pharmaceutical companies while enhancing its commercial capabilities in South Korea.

Charles "Chuck" Leitgeb, Deputy Director of State Government Relations, Bayer US, was elected Chair of the Board. Mr. Leitgeb joined Bayer's government relations team in 2014 and is responsible for all state government and legislative activity relevant to Bayer's Pharmaceutical, Consumer Health and Crop Science businesses in the Northeast Region. He also serves as state government relations team lead for Bayer's Radiology business. Prior to joining Bayer, Mr. Leitgeb was Vice President of the Insurance Council of New Jersey - a Trenton-based trade organization representing the property and casualty insurance industry. He also previously served as deputy communications director, and eventually communications director, for the Assembly Republican Office in the New Jersey Legislature. Mr. Leitgeb holds a BA in English/Journalism and a minor in history from Rutgers University. Mr. Leitgeb succeeds Leo Farber, formerly Vice President and Head of U.S. Government Affairs, Novartis. Abu Dhabi and Novartis sign strategic Memorandum of Understanding to advance genomics research and healthcare innovation. The Department of Health - Abu Dhabi (DoH), the regulator of the healthcare sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and Novartis Middle East FZE today signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore collaboration in genomics research, scientific capacity building, and advanced therapies, reinforcing their shared commitment to advancing healthcare innovation and improving patient outcomes. The collaboration further strengthens Abu Dhabi's genomics ecosystem by connecting global scientific expertise with one of the world's largest population genomics programmes. The joint efforts in research, capability building and advanced therapies, will support the translation of genomic insights into improved health outcomes for patients in Abu Dhabi and around the world. Through this collaboration, both organisations will build on Abu Dhabi's established strengths in genomics, precision medicine and health innovation, supporting research that is relevant to the UAE population while strengthening local scientific capabilities and advancing access to innovative therapies.The partnership builds on Abu Dhabi's leadership in genomics through the Emirati Genome Program, which has sequenced more than 900,000 genomes to date. Castle Hill Hospital becomes regional hub for molecular scanning capability in the fight against cancers. A new project could help change regional inequalities in access to advanced diagnostic imaging. A new partnership to fund a physicist at Castle Hill Hospital is making the Hull area a regional hub for advanced imaging diagnostics. Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) has joined forces with major medicines company Novartis to support diagnostic molecular imaging services which are considered among the best in the UK. Article continues below It coincides with the newly launched Molecular Imaging Research Centre (MIRC) at the Cottingham hospital. The new partnership includes more than two years of funding for a physicist, at Castle Hill Hospital, to support the introduction of a Gallium radiopharmaceutical service and Gallium-Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging capability. Gallium radiopharmaceutical is a form of nuclear medicine that uses a gallium isotope attached to a targeting molecule. It is injected and accumulates in certain tissues and tumours, allowing clinicians to detect diseases such as cancer using scans. Article continues below 138205441690 After the initial 27 month funding period, funding will be taken on by HUTH, supported by charity the Daisy Appeal, which has developed and will operate the MIRC facilities. The gallium-68 labelled radio-diagnostic agents are produced using a Gallium generator. And because the isotope has a short half life of just over an hour, on-site production is essential. With the recent acquisition of a Gallium generator, MIRC will soon begin producing these agents for clinical use in Hull. More info Gallium-PET imaging is already widely used in the management of nerve and gland (neuro-endocrine) tumours and prostate cancer, while clinical trials across the world are exploring its use in other cancers to support patient selection and monitor response to new therapies. Dr Saleem Azeem, clinical director, Molecular Imaging Research Centre, said: "The introduction of Gallium-PET services in Hull is expected to help address regional inequalities in access to advanced diagnostic imaging. Patients from centres without these facilities will be able to access molecular imaging at Hull, supporting clinical trial participation, therapy readiness and more equitable access to specialist scanning closer to home."
