Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required in a related analytic discipline including but not limited to Accounting, Auditing, Finance or Economics and at least 6 years of related work experience.
  • Strong analytic and critical thinking skills with the ability to grasp new concepts quickly.
  • Advanced knowledge of applications and mainframe accounting systems is required.
  • Detailed knowledge of GAAP, IFRS and FERC Accounting requirements and utility industry practices.
Responsibilities
  • Support the gross margin accounting responsibilities performed by Avangrid and its affiliates.
  • Provide data and analysis for internal and external financial requirements/requests in a timely manner.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis, including business case support, as needed.
  • Demonstrate the ability to explain difficult/complex accounting concepts (both IFRS and USGAAP).
  • Review and/or prepare complex specialized calculations (unbilled revenue, Customer A/R reserve analysis, and derivative accounting workbooks).
  • Provide audit support and analysis for internal and external audit requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with others assuming informal and formal leadership roles as needed.
  • Manage projects or teams, including coordination of resources outside of own area.
  • Lead others to resolve complex problems in non-standard situations.
  • Provide technical direction and training to other Accounting staff members.
Desired Qualifications
  • Utility experience, understanding of utility financials, advanced Excel skills and experience with SAP financial systems preferred.
  • Additional experience with project management experience a plus.
