- A Master of Science or Occupational Therapy Doctorate in Occupational Therapy, or a Bachelor of Science with equivalent work experience, is required.
- Successful completion of the state certification examination for occupational therapy is required.
- The employee must maintain valid state occupational therapy licensure.
- The employee is responsible for ongoing continuing education and professional development.
- Provide and direct occupational therapy services to pediatric, adult, and/or geriatric clients.
- Provide or arrange client care in compliance with the American Occupational Therapy Association, physicians’ orders, and clinical pathways.
- Assess and evaluate client status by reviewing and implementing the plan of care, and regularly re-evaluate and revise the plan as needed.
- Initiate and apply appropriate preventative, therapeutic, and rehabilitative procedures and techniques, and communicate client-care information to physicians and supervisory personnel.
- Assess clients and provide client and family or caregiver education and information pertinent to the diagnosis and plan of care.
- Coordinate occupational therapy services and report the need for physical therapy, skilled nursing, medical social work, speech therapy, or dietitian disciplines to the case manager.
- Report changes in client status and pertinent clinical findings to the physician, case manager, or clinical supervisor as needed.
- Assist clients with activities of daily living and facilitate their efforts toward self-sufficiency and independence.
