  • Clearance Level: Top Secret/SCI
  • Security certifications required: Security+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • Education requirement: Master’s degree; or Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of experience; or an Associate’s degree with at least 6 years of experience; degree must be in a relevant technical curriculum; one year of experience can be substituted by 15 semester hours toward a degree
  • Must have knowledge and experience in establishing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting internal and/or external networks; developing and maintaining network configurations, systems, applications, and security configurations; conducting network capacity and performance analysis; determining service quality levels for network transmission and performance; troubleshooting network performance issues; identifying and resolving server hardware/software problems and ensuring scalability and integration with other systems; ensuring appropriate network security measures; backup and disaster recovery planning; potentially directing day-to-day system administration
Responsibilities
  • Establishes, configures, maintains, and supports internal and/or external networks for the organization
  • Develops and maintains all systems, applications, security, and network configurations
  • Conducts network capacity and performance analysis
  • Recommends upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment
  • Directs and supports activities of the network control function of the organization
  • Determines service quality levels for network transmission and performance and ensures the established levels are met
  • Troubleshoots network performance issues and recommends corrective actions
  • Identifies and resolves problems associated with server hardware/software and ensures scalability and appropriate integration with other systems
  • Provides technical support and guidance to network users
  • Optimizes the functionality of networks and systems, and diagnoses and recovers failed systems
  • Ensures appropriate network security measures are in place
  • Responsible for backup or recovery procedures
  • Creates and maintains a disaster recovery plan
  • May be responsible for directing the work of system administrators who provide the day-to-day system administration to include system and resource optimization, and user assistance
  • Implement, manage, configure, and sustain network routers, data switches, voice switches, security appliances (such as Avaya switches, Cisco Unified Call Manager), firewalls and intrusion protection/detection systems, COMSEC equipment, and distribution networks supporting classified and unclassified DoDIN networks and related enclaves including JWICS and protected test enclaves
  • Perform network administration for JWICS once established on the JITC Fort Huachuca instance
  • Utilize tools such as Solar Winds, Wire-Shark, SNORT, SIEM, BURP to monitor network health, perform trend analysis, and provide mitigation recommendations; monitor SIEM and system logs for potential issues; open incident tickets in Jira; provide Tier II and Tier III incident response; coordinate escalation with DISA Network Operations
  • Sustain baseline network system architecture and perform change management per the JITC Configuration Management Plan and Change Management process; perform system updates, ACL management, IP space and host assignment, DNS changes, scheduled maintenance, backup and restoration procedures; integrate new technologies per IAVM/IAVA/STIG/SRG/TAs; respond to technical queries from ISSM/ISSO; report to Network Engineer or Task Lead
