Requirements
  • Knowledge of Property and Casualty underwriting, including insurance products, policy processing procedures, and documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Perform underwriting analysis and documentation to determine risk acceptability for renewal and new business within the assigned Letter of Underwriting Authority.
  • Handle endorsement requests within delegated authority and refer requests outside that authority to the underwriter with recommended action.
  • Engage agencies independently to clarify endorsement intent or obtain missing information.
  • Handle the assigned renewal book within delegated authority, triage renewal applications and specifications, and formulate next steps for the underwriter for accounts outside authority.
  • Act as a liaison within the branch and across CNA to resolve billing, collections, risk control, underwriting guidance, line-of-business, and underwriting-services issues.
  • Document assigned files, including correspondence, proposals, endorsements, and cancellations, ensuring completeness, compliance, and quality.
  • Execute advanced pricing strategy using business-unit pricing tools on behalf of the underwriter and document pricing rationale in compliance with regulatory and company underwriting strategies.
  • Complete quote proposals and negotiate with external partners within assigned authority.
  • Serve as the first-line contact for producers and customers on account-related matters while identifying opportunities for upselling or account rounding.
  • Assist in marketing products and services through external partners and make field visits.
  • Serve as an expert on systems and workflows, provide resources to others through training, problem-solving, and coaching, and convey feedback to internal underwriting partners.
  • Keep current on line-of-business strategy, state and territory issues, regulations, and trends.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

CNA promotes Claire Louko to SVP, North America Reinsurance. CNA Insurance, a U.S. commercial property and casualty insurance company, has promoted Claire Louko to Senior Vice President, North America Reinsurance. Based in Chicago, Illinois, Louko will be responsible for the teams managing reinsurance services, claims, operations, contracts and the firm's corporate insurance programmes, in addition to her current responsibilities for ceded reinsurance placement. She brings nearly two decades of industry experience, with expertise spanning property and casualty insurance, underwriting, commercial insurance, financial risk and more. Louko has spent the past 12 years at CNA Insurance, most recently serving as Vice President, Head of Ceded Re, North America. Prior to joining CNA Insurance, she spent almost seven years at Liberty Mutual Insurance, where she most recently held the role of Senior Property Underwriter - National Accounts.

CNA FINANCIAL ANNOUNCES FIRST QUARTER 2026 NET INCOME OF $0.78 PER SHARE AND CORE INCOME OF $0.83 PER SHARE * Net income of $211 million versus $274 million in the prior year quarter; core income of $225 million versus $281 million in the prior year quarter. * P&C core income of $248 million versus $311 million, reflects lower underlying underwriting results and unfavorable prior period development partially offset by higher net investment income. * Life & Group core loss of $9 million versus core income of $6 million in the prior year quarter. * Corporate & Other core loss of $14 million versus $36 million in the prior year quarter. * Net investment income of $610 million, reflects an $18 million increase from fixed income securities and other investments to $568 million and a $12 million decrease from limited partnerships and common stock to $42 million. * P&C combined ratio of 102.2%, compared with 98.4% in the prior year quarter, including a 3.6 point impact related to catastrophes compared with 3.8 points in the prior year quarter.
