Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Tax; Master's degree in Tax and active CPA preferred
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive tax experience, including significant experience in tax provision (ASC 740) and compliance
- Telecom regulatory experience a plus
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
- Exceptional leadership and management skills, with the ability to communicate complex topics clearly to management
- Strategic mindset, capable of aligning tax initiatives with overall business objectives
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance
- Willingness to get into the details and work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Responsibilities
- ASC 740 Tax Provision: Lead the company's tax provision process, including deferred tax calculations, maintenance of uncertain tax positions, and other related activities
- Income and Sales Tax Compliance: Oversee and work closely with outside service providers for the preparation and timely submission of accurate income and sales tax returns, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including telecom regulations
- International Tax: Manage compliance, cross-border tax issues, transfer pricing, withholding taxes, and other international tax matters
- Telecom Regulatory: Manage telecom regulatory matters and navigate compliance requirements, manage tax implications, and optimize tax planning in this highly regulated industry
- Tax Strategy: Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement tax strategies aligned with business objectives, optimizing tax efficiency while minimizing risk
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a small tax team, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment that encourages skill development
- Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate tax-related matters to internal stakeholders, external auditors, regulatory agencies, and tax authorities as necessary
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with evolving tax laws and regulations, assessing the impact on the company and recommending necessary adjustments to ensure compliance. Identify and implement tax process improvements
