Ball beats Q1 expectations with $3.6B revenue, but analyst questions reveal tariff exposure and EMEA margin expansion plans

Ball reported first-quarter revenue of $3.60 billion and adjusted earnings per share of $0.94, both exceeding analyst expectations, though shares fell following the results. During the earnings call, analysts questioned management on Middle East supply chain risks, operating leverage drivers and tariff impacts. CEO Ron Lewis highlighted Ball's short supply chains and cost pass-through mechanisms as limiting geopolitical exposure. The company reported continued strong growth in India, with high-teens volume increases and planned capacity investments. CFO Daniel Rabbitt said profit-per-can focus and cost discipline drove 10% year-over-year operating earnings growth, with EMEA positioned for significant future margin improvement.
