Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Management, Hospital Administration, Accounting, Finance, or another related field, plus two years of pharmacy or healthcare experience or one year of pharmacy financial reporting experience.
  • An Associate degree in Information Technology, Business Management, Hospital Administration, Accounting, Finance, or another related field, plus four years of pharmacy or healthcare experience or three years of pharmacy financial reporting experience.
  • A high school diploma plus eight years of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Two years of experience in a professional capacity in healthcare, preferably in Pharmacy.
  • Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Access.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods, lift 30 pounds, push 50 pounds, and perform fingering, handling, and reaching activities.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure that departmental billing procedures are accurate and timely.
  • Coordinate accounting and financial processes to maximize efficiency in daily accounting operations and ensure that internal control measures are followed.
  • Review medication purchases, revenue, contract pharmacy fees, and the viability of contract pharmacy relationships.
  • Coordinate accounting functions across the system for accuracy and consistency.
  • Lead and coordinate all system 340B entities in split billing for hospital-owned and contract pharmacies, including tracking variances and savings for monthly, quarterly, and annual financials.
  • Maintain contract pharmacy forecast analyses and confirm forecast validity for presentation to the Director.
  • Ensure utilization of 340B programs for eligible provider-based clinics.
  • Coordinate with managers to evaluate practice-change opportunities that could switch inpatient medication administration to outpatient medication administration.
  • Evaluate negative 340B accumulation levels and make recommendations to 340B management program managers.
  • Monitor purchases for contract compliance and accurate pricing.
  • Coordinate with Premier and AmerisourceBergen to assist with 340B compliance and identify savings opportunities, then relay those opportunities to 340B management program managers.
  • Monitor monthly budget variance and identify significant activity.
  • Generate year-end reports comparing budgeted and expended dollars based on reconciliation of budgets with the general ledger for each cost center by account.
  • Compile data, profile comparisons, and generate reports on current expenses to support budget requests.
  • Provide data for department performance-improvement activities related to drug utilization, purchasing, billing, and reimbursement.
  • Generate monthly Pharmacy Spend Advisor reports to ensure pharmaceuticals are purchased cost-effectively, communicate opportunities to the Pharmacy Manager and Buyers, and follow up on implementation.
  • Document expenditure activity by account and cost center according to accepted accounting practices.
  • Reconcile current departmental expenditure documentation with the hospital general ledger and rectify errors within 30 days.
  • Identify irregular spending and system failures related to current expense activity and report them to the department Director.
  • Interact with hospital departments to promote efficient systems interfaces and resolve fiscal and clinical management problems.
  • Provide revenue, drug expense, and contract pharmacy information to the department management team and System Director of Pharmacies, identify irregularities, and provide recommendations.
  • Assist with compiling financial support documentation for budgets and external audits.
  • Work with department management to develop and implement departmental goals and objectives.
  • Participate in planning and implementing change and improving productivity through staff meetings, committees, task forces, and projects.
  • Participate in educating 340B professionals on split billing, split matching, and contract pharmacy relationships.
  • Act as the accountable agent for net profit on split billing, split matching, and contract pharmacy.
  • Maintain financial records related to split billing, split matching, and contract pharmacy.
  • Document policies and procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate safeguards and system integrity.
  • Review and refine 340B cost-savings reports covering purchasing and replacement practices and dispensing patterns.
  • Monitor ordering processes, integrate current wholesaler pricing, and analyze invoices, shipping, and inventory processes.
Desired Qualifications
  • Direct experience in data analysis and/or a healthcare planning background.
  • Two years of experience in a professional capacity in healthcare, preferably in Pharmacy.
