Requirements

  • Java and Python development on IBM i's PASE environment, with the ability to define integration patterns and coach team members.
  • Advanced debugging and root-cause analysis using STRDBG, STRISDB, service entry points, job logs, Visual Explain, and remote Java/Python debugging; ability to lead production incident triage.
  • Experience leading sustained resiliency and maintenance, including high-availability/disaster-recovery strategy and failover testing, PTF management, performance tuning, and technical-debt remediation roadmaps.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and coach engineers at all levels, conduct design reviews, drive technical upskilling, and foster engineering excellence.
  • Lead software engineering communities of practice, evaluate emerging technologies, make build, buy, or adopt recommendations to engineering leadership, and partner with product owners, architects, and business stakeholders to translate business strategy into technical roadmaps and execution plans.
Desired Qualifications
  • Expert proficiency in CLP, CLLE, RPGLE, SQLRPGLE, LANSA, and Visual LANSA integrated development environment development, preferably in free format, with ability to set coding standards and conduct architecture reviews.
  • Deep knowledge of ILE concepts, service programs, and modular application design; experience leading modernization efforts including REST and SOAP web services from IBM i or Python/Java.

  • ITIL Foundation knowledge for service management and change advisory processes, with experience representing engineering in CAB reviews.
