Responsibilities
  • Works closely with the Director of the College & Graduate School of Art and faculty to support curricular exhibitions and develop external exhibitions and programs fostering high levels of engagement among faculty, students, artists, alumni, the community, and other constituencies.
  • Responsible for coordinating and collaborating on all aspects of planning, executing, installing, documenting, and archiving exhibitions, including working with artists and curators; coordinating shipping, delivery, storage, and professional art handling; maintaining insurance, consignment forms and budgets; coordinating the sale of artwork when applicable; and working with the appropriate offices/personnel on campus when necessary.
  • Works with students to provide opportunities for a professional gallery experience through the coordination of various exhibitions, including undergraduate area/major shows, graduate exhibitions, student-proposed projects and outside exhibitions.
  • Responsible for daily administrative duties to include social media, training and supervision of gallery staff and working with outside vendors; maintenance of facilities, including exhibition space, office, storage area, catering kitchen, restrooms, and loading dock.
  • Works with Sam Fox School Communications Office and University Public Affairs to maintain visibility in local and national press and engage in outreach activities. The Gallery Director is responsible for helping to produce press releases, publications, pursuing media coverage, and maintaining social media, the website, in addition to conducting tours, and planning gallery talks, exhibition receptions, and other events.
  • Participate in faculty/staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
