  • Regular attendance and punctuality are mandatory.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure employees educate members about available services and make recommendations based on their needs.
  • Encourage and process member referrals to specialists for real estate lending, insurance, investments, and estate planning.
  • Provide employee support in resolving member and procedural problems.
  • Respond to member complaints or criticism promptly and courteously, and oversee complaint resolution by other Member Service Representatives.
  • Interview and screen applicants and make recommendations for hiring.
  • Assist with the professional growth and development of employees and work with Senior Member Service Representatives to ensure continuity of service.
  • Assist with personnel-related issues alongside the Assistant Branch Manager, Vice Presidents, Senior Vice Presidents, and Human Resources.
  • Delegate appropriate duties and follow up to determine that work is properly completed.
  • Establish effective work schedules.
  • Oversee adherence to control procedures, credit union policy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Approve timesheets and time-off requests, and evaluate and key salary increase and promotion requests.
  • Set goals for the personal performance of Member Service Representative staff.
  • Ensure Member Service Representative functions are performed efficiently, accurately, and effectively according to established policies and standards.
  • Evaluate Member Service Representatives at least quarterly through Workday.
  • Ensure cash management and balancing align with the Branch Operations Risk Assessment.
  • Ensure security procedures are understood and followed by all Member Service Representatives.
  • Ensure monies are balanced and discrepancies are promptly resolved.
  • Ensure Member Service Representatives receive appropriate assistance and support.
  • Maintain effective working relationships and coordination with Member Service Representative personnel and management, and keep management informed of area activities and concerns.
  • Ensure the credit union's professional reputation is maintained and conveyed.
  • Ensure required reports and records are accurate, complete, and timely.
  • Comply with all credit union policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure member information remains confidential and member accounts are accessed only for business purposes.
  • Ensure security and control procedures are followed by branch employees.
  • Serve members by processing transactions in the appropriate system and balancing a cash drawer according to performance measurement criteria.
  • Apply SECU Check Acceptance Guidelines and hold procedures.
  • Greet and assist members courteously, professionally, and promptly through in-person, telephone, and digital channels.
  • Answer phones and assist members with service requests.
  • Operate a drive-through window as needed.
  • Evaluate daily mobile and automated teller machine deposits.
  • Prepare, order, and verify cash deliveries and shipments.
  • Interact with other departments to facilitate member requests.
  • Organize, file, and scan documents daily.
  • Perform account maintenance and open all account types for new members while following MIP procedures.
  • Open and maintain tax-advantaged accounts, process foreign and domestic wire transfers, redeem savings bonds, and help order and return foreign currency.
  • Resolve problems across all delivery channels and use critical thinking to ensure members are well informed and have a positive branch experience.
  • Review and take appropriate action on negative checking, NSFB, and Share Below $25 reports.
  • Oversee and train Member Service Representatives in the collection and documentation of deposit and loan collection reports as directed by management.
  • Maintain daily and monthly records for reports such as return items and forgeries.
  • Establish and facilitate member safe deposit box access.
  • Perform subsequent advances on existing open and home equity lines of credit.
  • Provide Notary Public services.
  • Engage with the community as requested by management by attending community events to enhance credit union presence.
  • Assist in training Member Service Representatives in CXone and assist Member Service Specialists as requested.
  • Maintain a positive attitude toward members and teammates while maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Participate in professional development and leadership training.
  • Participate in required training and continuing education to maintain knowledge of branch operations and potential member needs.
  • Coordinate daily balancing of the vault, automated teller machines, teller cash dispenser, coin sorter, and mobile deposits.
  • Train employees to perform their duties effectively.
  • Complete additional tasks assigned by management and other administrative duties as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree, CCUE Certification, or Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree through the North Carolina Community College Transfer Program is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of SECU or directly related experience is strongly preferred.

SECU partnership helps South Piedmont students stay on track and build financial confidence. Balancing classes, work, and finances is one of the biggest challenges college students face. Thanks to a partnership between South Piedmont Community College and State Employees' Credit Union (SECU), South Piedmont Community College is helping students ease that burden through scholarships, financial education, and resources designed to support success both in college and beyond. Through SECU's support, South Piedmont students have access to scholarships that help cover educational costs and reduce financial stress. The People Helping People Scholarship supports students pursuing associate degrees, while the Bridge to Career Scholarship assists students working toward certificates and workforce credentials. These scholarships help students stay enrolled, focus on their coursework, and move closer to their career goals. "SECU's support truly makes a difference for our students," said Coordinator of Financial Aid Programs Tammi Smith. "Through scholarships like People Helping People and Bridge to Career, students are able to focus on their education instead of worrying about financial obstacles. Through the SECU Foundation's Mission Development Grant Program, MHCDC will have the opportunity to strengthen internal capacity, expand its reach, and continue building sustainable pathways toward housing stability and economic empowerment. The SECU Foundation's Mission Development Grant Program is designed to provide capacity building assistance to organizations committed to serving North Carolina communities. The grant supports institutional assessments, leadership coaching, and strategic development in key areas essential for growth and long-term impact. On Thursday, September 18th and Tuesday, September 23rd, Metropolitan Housing & Community Development Corporation had the privilege of partnering with Beaufort County Community College (BCCC) to bring Financial Literacy and Wellness education directly to GED students. Over two days, Karrissa Sutton, Housing Counseling Program Manager & HUD-Certified Housing Counselor, and Julius Oden, Housing Counselor, led a four-hour class designed to equip students with the knowledge and tools needed to build financial stability and prepare for long-term success. On September 9, 2025, I attended the Re-entry Simulation hosted by Trillium in Martin County. What I thought would be a structured exercise quickly became one of the most eye-opening and impactful experiences I have had in understanding the struggles faced by individuals re-entering society after incarceration. The event began with powerful insights from Judge Regina Parker, Chief District Court Judge for District 2, and Jeron Randall, Reentry Coordinator, who spoke about the systemic challenges justice-involved individuals encounter immediately after release. Their remarks set the tone for the simulation, preparing Metroprop for the weight of the choices Metroprop would soon face. I was handed a packet that represented the life of someone just released. In it, I learned whether I had identification, housing, or education, along with a list of my release obligations such as rent, child support, probation check-ins, and mandatory drug screenings. To make things more difficult, I drew a "wild card" that simulated a learning impairment, making it harder to understand key instructions. Others received cards tied to mental health conditions or addiction recovery, each adding another layer of challenge. From Development to Management - Metropolitan Serves with Purpose.
