Royal Caribbean raises guidance to $17.73-$17.87 EPS as Norwegian cuts yields 2.1% amid Europe demand friction

Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line delivered contrasting second-quarter 2026 results, highlighting divergent pricing power in the cruise sector amid high interest rates and inflation. Royal Caribbean reported strong Q2 revenues of $4.8 billion, up 6% year-over-year, and adjusted earnings per share of $4.21, exceeding expectations. The company achieved a 110% load factor and raised its full-year adjusted EPS guidance to between $17.73 and $17.87. Norwegian Cruise Line posted Q2 revenue of $2.64 billion with adjusted EPS of $0.48, but net yields fell 2.1% due to weaker European bookings and high international flight costs. The company cut its full-year yield projection and announced $225 million in annualised savings. Royal Caribbean trades at a forward P/E of 15.73x, supported by superior yields and capital returns.

Royal Caribbean raises full-year guidance as Q2 revenue hits $4.8B despite industry price cuts

Royal Caribbean reported strong second-quarter results despite broader consumer spending concerns, with total revenue rising 6% year-over-year to $4.8 billion. The company also raised its full-year guidance. CEO Jason Liberty addressed questions about industry-wide promotional activity in the Caribbean, stating the cruise line would not cut prices. He emphasised Royal Caribbean's differentiated position through its diverse ship classes and expanding portfolio of private destinations. The results come as a Deloitte survey showed 45% of Americans plan summer vacations with paid lodging, the lowest in six years. However, those who are travelling expect to spend an average of $4,069 on their longest summer trip, up 17% from last year. Liberty noted consumers remain focused on quality leisure experiences despite becoming more deliberate about spending.

Royal Caribbean raises annual profit forecast to $17.73-$17.87 per share despite modest booking hit from Middle East conflict

Royal Caribbean raised its annual profit forecast on Tuesday after beating quarterly estimates, despite a modest hit to bookings from Middle East travel disruptions. The cruise operator now expects adjusted profit of $17.73 to $17.87 per share, up from its prior forecast of $17.10 to $17.50. The company reported second-quarter earnings of $4.21 per share on an adjusted basis, beating analyst estimates of $3.98. Revenue rose 6% to $4.83 billion, slightly above expectations of $4.82 billion. Bookings for some sailings, including Mediterranean itineraries, have been modestly affected, primarily in the third quarter. Chief executive officer Jason Liberty said travellers are either postponing trips or choosing Caribbean destinations over Europe due to higher combined costs of cruises and airfare. The company trimmed its revenue growth outlook to about 9% from about 10%.

Royal Caribbean shares fall 4% as revenue misses expectations despite earnings beat

Royal Caribbean Group reported second-quarter adjusted earnings per share of $4.21, beating the analyst consensus estimate of $3.93. However, revenue of $4.8 billion fell slightly short of the $4.81 billion consensus, sending shares down over 4% premarket. The cruise operator raised its full-year adjusted EPS guidance to a range of $17.73 to $17.87, with a midpoint of $17.80 that exceeds the analyst consensus of $17.34. Revenue increased 6% year-on-year. The company attributed the stronger-than-expected quarterly performance to strong close-in demand, lower costs, and favourable performance from joint ventures. Royal Caribbean noted a modest booking impact for select itineraries due to prolonged geopolitical activity. For the third quarter, the company expects adjusted EPS in the range of $6.26 to $6.36.
