Requirements
  • A Kansas registered nurse license is required upon hire and throughout employment.
  • Six years of prior research or related experience is required; related education may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience with regulations governing clinical research, including the Code of Federal Regulations, Good Clinical Practice, and HIPAA, is required.
  • Presentation experience is required.
  • Detail orientation is required.
  • Interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • Organizational and communication skills are required.
  • A resume or curriculum vitae and cover letter are required.
Responsibilities
  • Review and assist with editing new research protocols.
  • Assess the feasibility of research protocols, including the patient population, budget, and study-specific needs.
  • Initiate and complete assigned research protocols, including patient recruitment, screening, scheduling, enrollment, examinations, laboratory and diagnostic studies, medication dispensing, charting, data recording in the electronic medical record, case report forms, and Velos, study-visit organization, and reporting of abnormal results and adverse events.
  • Complete and correct case report forms and maintain accurate records for each study, including medical events, concomitant medications, and study-related documentation.
  • Act as a liaison between study sponsors and investigators.
  • Maintain accurate records of study test articles and complete study binders.
  • Maintain knowledge of all research efforts and protocols conducted by the department, including studies assigned to other coordinators.
  • Work with KUMCRI and other departments to construct study packages containing budgets, approved protocols, procedures, discounts, billing, study contracts, related documents, and workflows.
  • Maintain current KUMCRI-required education, including Human Subjects Protection and HIPAA, and adhere to Good Clinical Practice guidelines.
  • Promote marketing activities in accordance with HSC rules and research protocols.
  • Monitor awarded grants and contracts for performance, reporting, and accounting compliance.
  • Attend staff meetings and study-required on-site and off-site meetings.
  • Mentor new staff members.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Missouri registered nurse license is preferred.
  • Cardiovascular research experience is preferred.
  • Seven years of research experience is preferred.
  • Experience using medical terminology is preferred.
