Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One-year medical billing experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Ability to communicate with various insurance payers.
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.
Responsibilities
  • Forecast and trend denials.
  • Advises supervisor of trends in order to improve processes within the department.
  • Follow up on denials aggressively with focus on AR reduction, payer timely filing limits, and contract requirements.
  • Process requests for medical records accurately.
  • Compile supporting documentation and effectively communicate reconsideration requests to payers.
  • Demonstrates the ability to maintain the responsible AR with no more than 30% over 90 days.
  • Maintain a positive rapport with all customers and coworkers.
  • Appropriately handles all telephone and email communications.
  • Support the Medical Center's Mission, Vision, and Philosophy positively.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned.
