Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing and passed the Pennsylvania Board Association for Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Current licensure as a Practical Nurse in the state of practice; BLS required based on organizational guidelines/policies.
Responsibilities
  • Interacts with co-workers, patients, their family/designated care partner(s), and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.

  • Recognizes the patients, their family/designated care partner(s) in providing safe, compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for patient's personal preferences, priorities, needs, and cultural beliefs and values.

  • Uses data to monitor the outcomes of care processes and uses improvement methods to design and test changes to continuously improve the quality and safety of patient care.
  • An LPN shall communicate with a registered nurse, physician, and the patient’s health care team members to seek guidance with patient care.
  • An LPN may collect data as allowed by the licensed practical nurse scope of practice as defined by the Pennsylvania/New Jersey Nurse Practice Act.
  • Work closely with the registered nurse to assure the implementation of safe, quality care of the emergency department patients.
