Requirements

  • An associate degree from a regionally accredited college or university in business, accounting, or a related field and five years of experience in finance, accounting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience sufficient to perform the essential duties.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze, verify, coordinate, and reconcile Title I budgets to maximize the use of resources and comply with local, state, and federal fiscal requirements.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, vendors, and the school system's Purchasing and Budget departments to track encumbrances and invoices, facilitate account reconciliation, and support effective use of resources to improve student performance.
  • Initiate, prepare, and process budget-related transactions, including transfers, amendments, purchase orders, travel, and direct pays; obtain the budget manager's signature; verify available balances; identify new account codes; resolve discrepancies; assign transaction numbers; verify data; distribute documents; and maintain transaction files.
  • Review Title I-related contracts for compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Prepare, process, and analyze monthly budget reports for department administrators and for internal and external agencies.
  • Reconcile all Title I account activity with the Oracle general ledger.
  • Assist in preparing budget development materials.
  • Perform duties in accordance with WCPSS Finance Manual standards, Board of Education policies, and state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in business or accounting.
  • Knowledge of Wake County Public School System financial systems and processes.
  • Experience working with Oracle-based accounting systems.
