Requirements
  • Formal training beyond a high school diploma of 1 to 2 years, two years of college coursework, or an associate’s degree; more than four but less than six years of experience or a combined equivalency of education and relevant experience.
  • Ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure, use judgment when accomplishing urgent or sensitive or confidential tasks, balance conflicting priorities, and make appropriate decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent customer service skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate with a broad range of people.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to work proactively within a team, self-start, and work independently.
  • Comfort working in an environment where process and procedure changes are common.
  • Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Workday, and Google Docs, and ability to learn new systems, including exploring effective use of artificial intelligence.
  • Experience in or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the Chair’s complex calendar and meetings across multiple colleges and stakeholders.
  • Schedule faculty meetings, appointments, and special events.
  • Support faculty assessments, strategic initiatives, and departmental projects.
  • Prepare, format, and edit correspondence and other communications.
  • Serve as a resource and liaison for faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
  • Coordinate information and materials for annual reports and other institutional reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate faculty recruitment efforts from application management through candidate visits and interview scheduling.
  • Manage candidate logistics, travel arrangements, reimbursements, and event coordination.
  • Maintain recruitment systems, records, and compliance reporting.
  • Support tenure, promotion, and faculty review processes by tracking timelines, assembling materials, and coordinating communications.
  • Request and monitor external review letters and faculty assessment materials.
  • Maintain confidential records and ensure adherence to departmental, college, and university procedures.
  • Coordinate course information across more than 75 courses offered through multiple academic units.
  • Maintain and update course catalog content, course descriptions, and program requirements.
  • Coordinate instructional assignments, classroom information, and semester scheduling.
  • Coordinate course approvals, cross-listings, and curriculum-related documentation.
  • Monitor syllabus submissions and course evaluation processes.
  • Provide input to the department Chair, Director of Graduate Studies, and Director of Undergraduate Studies regarding faculty teaching loads and responsibilities.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for the department.
  • Assist with office operations, events, meetings, and visitor support.
  • Provide backup support for administrative functions as needed.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives that support departmental goals.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience with university systems including 25Live, Tableau, WebFin2, KFS, Faculty Center, e-Shop, Cornell Events Calendar, annual report database, CCI, ACALOG, and CLSS.
