  • Juris Doctorate.
  • Membership in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona.
  • A valid and unrestricted driver's license with two years of licensed driving is required.
  • A legal writing sample must be uploaded with the resume and cover letter as one PDF document, composed within the last two years and no more than 10 pages.
  • Applicants qualifying for the Arizona Lawyer Apprentice Program certification and licensing may be considered.
  • Applicants who have passed the Arizona Bar Exam and received a letter recommending admission from the Arizona Supreme Court's Committee on Character and Fitness, but have not yet received their Arizona State Bar License, may be considered.
  • Applicants without an Arizona State Bar License must submit the recommendation letter at the time of interview.
Responsibilities
  • Represent the State at various hearings and court appearances, including video review hearings, felony cases with associated misdemeanants, animal forfeiture hearings, and other assigned cases and hearings.
  • Conduct plea negotiations with defense attorneys and unrepresented defendants.
  • Review and evaluate police reports and relevant charges.
  • Research, review, and analyze case law, applying facts from police reports, interviews, body-worn camera footage, and other evidence.
  • Draft legal motions, responses to defense motions, and legal memoranda.
  • Represent the State in jury trials, bench trials, and hearings by appearing in court, making oral arguments, collecting testimony from witnesses and victims, and making legal objections.
  • Assist with training newly hired prosecutors.
  • Conduct office training as assigned.
  • Perform other assigned duties and tasks.
Desired Qualifications
  • Recent criminal law experience, including a certificate in Criminal Law and Policy or participation in a related law school clinical program such as a prosecution, criminal defense, or domestic violence law clinic.
  • Recent litigation or judicial law clerk experience.
