Requirements
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the hotel industry or restaurant department in a luxury hotel.
  • Must have strong knowledge of food and beverage offerings for the restaurant and other outlets.
  • Food handler certification is mandatory.
  • TIPS training certification is mandatory.
  • Must comply with California regulations for alcohol service, if applicable.
  • Must have basic math skills, including percentage calculations.
  • Must communicate effectively in English; Spanish is a plus.
  • Must take ownership of and responsibility for one's own actions and follow directions from supervisors.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Follow instructions from the Director of Banquets, banquet captain, and food and beverage managers and director.
  • Establish contact with guests, anticipate their needs, and fulfill special requests.
  • Set up meeting rooms, tables, buffets, reception equipment, bars, and event stations according to the event format and client requirements.
  • Plan and complete assigned tasks proactively throughout the day.
  • Provide timely service, including clearing and bussing tables, buffets, and stations.
  • Inform guests about food and beverage offerings, including plated menus and buffets.
  • Bartend during designated events and operate the point-of-sale and credit card systems.
  • Use the Accubar inventory system for alcoholic beverages and maintain beverage stock accountability.
  • Prepare and serve beverages and liquor according to the event format while complying with California liquor regulations.
  • Perform pre-shift and post-shift work, including station preparation.
  • Polish glassware, silverware, plates, and other service equipment.
  • Clean and restock sugar caddies, salt and pepper shakers, shelves, coolers, and storage areas.
  • Fold napkins and prepare tablecloths and place settings.
  • Carry plates of food on trays and serve guests; keep glasses filled; remove plates and replenish utensils.
  • Perform cleaning and service breakdown tasks, including clearing trash cans.
  • Restock guest-service equipment after it is cleaned by the dishwasher.
  • Apply food-waste triage procedures and operate the ORCA machine for event food waste.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.
  • Participate in safety, security, department-procedure, and service-guideline training and comply with applicable practices and regulations.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Serve the event according to the position assigned by the banquet director or captain.
  • Follow service standards and sequences, ensure guest and attendee well-being, and maintain tidy meeting and back-of-house areas.
  • Return beverage stock to the liquor room or storage area.
