The Job:
As a Manufacturing Excellence Engineer, you’ll be part of our Brea, CA team working as an Onsite employee. Co-Located at a key manufacturing site, the Manufacturing Excellence Engineer will be involved with site-based transformation activities where they will be responsible for the delivery of discrete manufacturing improvement workstreams. This will involve shop floor-based improvement activities and training/coaching of various operations teams. This position will support multiple manufacturing sites across North America to ensure the right processes are in place to ensure maximum efficiency in manufacturing operations. This is a high-exposure position interacting with multiple businesses, leaderships, and teams to promote continuous learning, and potential career advancement.
You’ll get to:
- Be a key member of a transformation team within the Industrial business unit to drive continuous improvement and site transformation
- Assume responsibility for an operational improvement workstream(s) that will require the development of a workstream charter, a detailed work plan, and the identification of operational and financial KPIs to measure the progress of the improvement actions
- Ability to review/assess operational data and implement action plans to close gaps
- Ability to understand operational KPI’s to determine appropriate responses to close gaps
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, savings and waste reduction based on field observations, analysis of data from various sources and systems, and optimization models to: streamlining material flow, optimize plants & production cells layout, enhance machines & equipment efficiency (OEE), improve labor productivity, quality and yield, waste & scraps reduction, and more.
- Drive operational improvement through the implementation of Lean standard tools and concepts such as Flow, Standard Work, 5S, Visual Management, SMED, Poka-Yoke, PDCA, TPM, etc.
- Recommend methods for improving worker efficiency, and such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment and purchase of equipment / systems.
- Design and lead the Implementation of Lean standard tools and concepts within the production floor and operations such as 5S, Visual-Management, Standard Work, Kaizen events program, SMED, Flow, Poka-Yoke, PDCA, etc.
- Coach shop floor-based personnel including makers, supervisors, and managers in new ways of working
- Providing key stakeholders with both written and verbal updates on the progress of their workstream(s) and the escalation of any risks and issues while being a change agent.
- Support codification of any newly developed approaches, methodologies, and results
- Lead and participate in Kaizens and Gemba process to solve complex manufacturing problems through a structured approach.
- Develop and prepare formal cost justifications for purchase of capital expenditures on equipment and technology
- Align with, support, and enhance the Lean-led journey of each individual plant promoting a lean culture and scientific thinking processes.
- Collaborate with multiple functions including IT and Operations on project requirements and deliverables to meet launch deadlines
- Project management and deployment of production automation, equipment and systems focused on the 4 M’s – METHOD, MACHINE, MATERIAL, MAKER
- Develop and prepare formal cost justifications for purchase of capital expenditures on equipment and technology
The Person:

- Bachelor of Science in Engineering Discipline, Industrial Engineering Preferred
- 5+ years of experience to include manufacturing work experience within manufacturing operations
- 2+ Years of Continuous Improvement
- Experience working with multiple functions and disciplines in a matrix organization to build consensus and drive decision making. (Operations, Sourcing, finance, IT, etc.)\
- Prior operational Consulting Experience desirable
- Decisive and confident, open and candid with the ability to energize others
- Strong sense of urgency, accountability and personal commitment
- Understanding of business metrics and P&L
- Root cause problem solving, (5why, Fishbone, 6 Sigma, Toyota Kata, etc.)
- ERP/MES and other manufacturing systems knowledge/experience (JDE, SAP, LX)
- Basic Data analytic tools like MS Power Platform (PowerBI, Power Apps,etc), Qlikview, Tableau, Grafana, etc
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Teams
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time domestic, travel % may vary based on business needs

The base pay range for this position in California is $75,500 - $105,500 per year. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on payment may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
