TransRe expands Torre's role to global property, in addition to third-party capital

TransRe expands Torre's role to global property, in addition to third-party capital. Global reinsurance company TransRe has announced the promotion of Mike Torre and expansion of his responsibilities to the position of Global Property Portfolio and Third-Party Capital Leader, reporting to Lisa Moser, President of Global Portfolio Management. In this capacity, he will oversee the firm's global property portfolio, while continuing to fulfill his existing duties in developing and executing the organisation's third-party capital initiatives at TransRe Capital Partners, the firm's dedicated unit that specialises in sharing risks with third-party institutional investors. Torre joined TransRe in 2018 from re/insurance broker Aon and took on lead responsibility for the third-party reinsurance capital business in 2021. At the same time, TransRe has also announced that Eyal Shnaps has been promoted to lead the firm's U.S. Custom team, an important component of the reinsurer's global portfolio. Shnaps, who is well known across the industry for his time working on third-party reinsurance capital backed initiatives, joined TransRe's Capital Partners Group in 2014. Most recently, he served as TransRe's Global Property Portfolio Leader, developing property strategy and analytics, while also managing aggregates. In his new position, Shnaps will report to John Fugit, Chief Underwriting Officer for North America. As well as this, TransRe also announced that it has promoted Maryam Haji to Global Head of Research & Catastrophe Management. Haji joined the reinsurer in 2014 and has since led the validation of third-party cat models, the development of TransRe's property risk assessment framework and the integration of cyber modelling into exposure management workflows. TransRe also confirmed that Haji will continue to report to Moser as well within their new role. And lastly, TransRe has also promoted Desmond Pollock to lead the firm's Go-To-Market team. In his new role, Pollock will report to Paul McKeon, President of Global Underwriting, where he will focus on client/broker relationships, analytics and market communications. Pollock joined TransRe in 2006 to lead the regional unit of the firm's US Custom team. He later went on to assume leadership of the US Custom team in 2017 Commenting on the promotions, Paul McKeon said: "In today's market, it is more important than ever that our front-line teams have the best possible support to help deliver the service and capabilities that our partner clients and brokers expect and deserve. These changes help us deliver this goal, and demonstrate the strength and depth of talent within TransRe." Lisa Moser added: "These changes better integrate our analytic capabilities to enhance the insights our Portfolio group delivers to our underwriting teams in all regions and lines of business worldwide. Having worked with Mike and Maryam for many years, I am confident they will bring new perspectives to their expanded roles."
