Lucid exec files "Nazi" Slur lawsuit. Former Lucid senior VP of product and chief engineer Eric Bach has filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against the EV automaker, alleging he was fired after reporting discrimination and a hostile work environment. Bach claims an HR director called him a "German Nazi," that Lucid confirmed the slur, and that he was subsequently marginalized, pressured to resign, and then terminated. The complaint argues Bach's performance record contradicts Lucid's justification for firing him, citing major product launches, raises, bonuses, equity, and an informal promise of promotion. Bach alleges the company protected colleagues accused of disparaging him and used him as a scapegoat for product struggles. A Lucid source disputes the allegations, calling them "baseless" and claiming Bach's management caused cascading product development issues as Lucid restructured leadership. Bach plans to file charges with the EEOC and California Civil Rights Department and is seeking a jury trial. Emobi and Flipturn plug-and-charge EV charging sites. Amazon joins $80m round for US solid-state battery firm Blue Current

Amazon joins $80m round for US solid-state battery firm Blue Current. Blue Current has raised over US$80 million in a series D extension round anchored by Amazon. Other investors in the round include Koch Disruptive Technologies, Piedmont Capital, Rusheen Capital Partners, and Allen & Company. Blue Current said the funding will support the commercialization of its battery platform, which uses silicon and dry electrolytes, and can be manufactured with existing lithium-ion battery equipment. The US-based company develops silicon solid-state batteries for stationary storage and mobility use. Amazon senior vice president James Hamilton will join Blue Current's board as part of the deal. The company claims its technology offers improved safety and energy density, but did not disclose commercial deployment timelines or customer details. Food for thought. Blue Current's compatibility claim needs proof from pilot-line data. * Blue Current says its batteries can run on existing lithium-ion equipment 1. That could cut the need for greenfield gigafactory builds (brand-new high-capacity battery plants) that new chemistries often require. * The 22,000-square-foot pilot facility in Hayward, California 1 is a small-scale line used to validate processes. The company has not shared production yields or throughput, nor third-party proofs such as United Nations 38.3 (UN 38.3, transport safety tests for lithium batteries) or Underwriters Laboratories (UL) safety standards. There is no public record of sample shipments to automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) or battery makers, so readiness for gigawatt-hour-scale production, factory volumes measured by the energy capacity produced, remains uncertain. Battery equipment suppliers could win retrofit work if compatibility holds up. * If the dry electrolyte (a solvent-free solid electrolyte) process runs on standard lines, Europe's 30 operational gigafactories 2 plus new sites in Hungary and Germany 3 become brownfield conversion prospects (retrofitting existing facilities) for vendors of coating tools, calendaring presses that densify electrodes, or formation systems for initial cell charging and testing. * Industrial automation firms for dry-room handling (low-humidity environments essential for cell assembly) or material transfer could team with CATL's Debrecen plant in Hungary 4 from a major Chinese battery maker and Northvolt sites 4, a European cell maker, to add solid-state lines. Battery integrators and toll manufacturers with underutilized capacity in gigafactory databases 56 could offer contract production under Blue Current's initial partnership model 7.
