Requirements
  • A PhD in cosmetic science, pharmaceutical formulation, chemistry, biochemistry, or a similar scientific discipline with at least 3 years of relevant research and development experience, including commercialization of consumer-preferred solutions; or a Master's degree in one of these fields with at least 4 years of relevant experience; or a Bachelor's degree in one of these fields with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship for full-time employment.
  • Ability to lift 10 to 40 pounds.
  • Availability to work full-time during regular business hours, Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and execution of the skin science technology roadmap for on-skin formulations.
  • Explore emerging ingredients, materials, and technologies that improve product feel, efficacy, wear time, and overall consumer experience.
  • Develop advanced laboratory methods to evaluate skin performance, including skin feel, evaporation, wear duration, dermal absorption, and skin compatibility.
  • Develop clinical-level studies to assess the performance of repellent products on skin.
  • Collaborate with universities, research institutions, industry organizations, and government agencies on scientific and regulatory advancements.
  • Design and commercialize innovative formulations for the global repellents portfolio.
  • Identify technologies from cosmetics, personal care, pharmaceuticals, and dermatology and translate them into product innovations.
  • Lead formulation projects from concept through commercialization, managing technical risk, timelines, budgets, and project execution.
  • Establish performance specifications and testing methods for consistent consumer benefits.
  • Collaborate with entomologists, toxicologists, regulatory experts, packaging engineers, and cross-functional business partners to bring products to market.
  • Build intellectual property through novel formulation technologies and ingredient applications.
  • Introduce new testing methods, technologies, and scientific partnerships to expand technical capabilities.
  • Influence technical strategy as a subject matter expert across global project teams.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience developing cosmetic or skin care products in a corporate or business setting, including understanding the functional properties, proper use, and environmental impact of common skin care formulation ingredients.
  • Ability to solve technical formulation problems and provide innovative scientific ideas and knowledge.
  • Understanding of regulatory processes, including Environmental Protection Agency registrations.
  • Knowledge of product development processes and formulation and delivery system technologies, including aerosol formulation, emulsion chemistry, gel formulation, polymer chemistry, reaction products, surfactants, solvents, and builders.
  • Experience in the repellents industry and familiarity with pest control products.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for accurate and concise communication across multiple organizational levels.
  • Experience formulating green and sustainable chemistries.
  • Background in skin barrier, permeation, and dermal sensitivity studies.

Lisa McKnight named CEO of SC Johnson Lifestyle Brands. Former Mattel executive takes top spot at SCJ unit that includes Method, Mrs. Meyers, Ecover and Babyganics. August 25, 2026 Editor-in-Chief, Happi / Rodman Media Lisa McKnight, a long-time executive at toy maker Mattel, has joined SC Johnson as CEO of its Lifestyle Brands division (LSB), which encompasses Method, Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day, Ecover, Caldrea and Babyganics. McKnight shared the news on her LinkedIn page. McKnight's most recent role was EVP and chief brand officer at Mattel, Inc., a post she held for more than two years. Her career with Mattel spanned some 25 years in a variety of high-level marketing roles. She departed the organization after a reorganization of its leadership team. Earlier in her career, McKnight served as director of marketing at Gap and GapKids. In her new role at SC Johnson, McKnight will be based in San Francisco at the LSB headquarters.

New exhibition reveals how ocean plastic pollution starts long before it reaches the sea. * Date23 June 2026 Royal Holloway, in partnership with SC Johnson, has launched Ocean Plastics: Research and Action, a new exhibition that explores how plastic pollution travels from everyday life into rivers and oceans, and how research can help drive practical solutions. Opening to visitors from 23 June, the exhibition brings together university research, real-world examples and accessible interpretation to help students, schools, local communities and the wider public better understand the journey of plastic pollution. It shows how plastic can move through waste systems, waterways and the environment, eventually breaking into microplastics and nanoplastics that are harder to see, track and remove. Included in the exhibition is research from Royal Holloway, where visitors will be able to explore how different plastics degrade over time, such as how synthetic clothing can shed fibres through washing, and how researchers are studying microplastics in local rivers connected to wider water systems. Alongside SC Johnson, one of the world's leading manufacturers of household cleaning products such as Duck(R), Mr Muscle(R) and Ecover(R), the exhibition is designed to translate academic research into an accessible public learning experience for students, schools, local communities and visitors. It brings a global issue closer to home by showing how plastic is present through everyday systems, local waterways and the wider environment. It also shows how ocean plastic pollution does not begin in the ocean, but starts in the systems, products and choices around Royal Holloway every day; long before plastic reaches the sea. Dr Nathalie Grassineau, from the Department of Earth Sciences at Royal Holloway, said: "Ocean plastic pollution is a global challenge, but it is also something Royal Holloway can study, understand and act on. "Through Ocean Plastics: Research and Action, Royal Holloway want to bring research into a public space and help visitors see how plastics move through everyday life, rivers and oceans. "By making the science accessible, we hope the exhibition supports better understanding and encourages students, schools and the wider public to think about the role they can play in reducing plastic waste." The exhibition also shows there is no single solution to ocean plastic pollution. Reducing it will depend on better systems, stronger policy, continued research, responsible innovation and informed everyday choices. SC Johnson is part of Ocean Plastics: Research and Action for its wider commitment to sustainability education and partnership-driven efforts to address plastic waste. Through this work, the company helps create public learning experiences that make the issue more visible and easier to understand. SC Johnson has significantly advanced its packaging goals and continues to focus on reducing its virgin plastic footprint and plastics that are difficult to recycle, incorporating post-consumer recycled materials and recovered coastal plastic into its packaging, and supporting reuse and refill systems. Today, 25% of SC Johnson's global packaging comes from post-consumer recycled plastic, and 64% of its plastic packaging is reusable or recyclable. Frank Lloyd Wright was born in Richland Center, on June 8, 1867. He moved around during his childhood until his family settled in Madison in 1878. To help support his family, he worked for the dean of engineering at the University of Wisconsin while also studying there. Wright knew during college that he wanted to be an architect. He worked at a few architectural firms in Chicago, but eventually ended up moving back to Wisconsin, where he began the construction of Taliesin near Spring Green. He received two very important public commissions over the next several years: the first in 1913 for an entertained center called Midway Gardens and the second in 1916 for the Imperial Hotel in Japan. His property at Taliesin later became an architectural school called the "Taliesin Fellowship" that provided a total learning environment integrating architecture, construction, farming, gardening and cooking along with several other areas of study. People are also reading... Even when he left his Wisconsin residence for Arizona, he completed important projects in Wisconsin including the S.C. Johnson and Son Company Administration Building in Racine and the Herbert Jacobs House, the first executed Usonian house in Madison. Wright also designed the research tower for the SC Johnson Company and a unitarian meeting house in Wisconsin. He died on April 9, two months shy of his 92nd birthday.
