Requirements
  • Strong Android development experience with expert knowledge of Kotlin and experience supporting legacy Java codebases.
  • Experience with the Android Software Development Kit, Android Studio, and Jetpack Components.
  • Experience building modern Android applications using XML and Jetpack Compose.
  • Strong understanding of Android lifecycle management, state handling, side-effect management, notifications, and permissions.
  • Experience with networking technologies such as Retrofit and OkHttp.
  • Strong knowledge of build optimization, modularization strategies, and Gradle.
  • Experience with automated testing using JUnit, Mockito and/or MockK, and Compose UI Testing.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, ideally Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub, Snyk, GitFlow, and trunk-based development.
  • Experience with Android App Bundles and release processes.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Datadog, Firebase, or similar tools.
  • Experience with Navigation Component and Compose Navigation.
  • Experience with architectural patterns such as Model-View-ViewModel and Model-View-Presenter.
  • Experience with Kotlin Coroutines and Flows.
  • Experience with dependency injection using Hilt or Dagger.
  • Understanding of iOS development principles, Swift, Xcode, and Apple ecosystem standards.
  • Strong understanding of application architecture, dependency management, and maintainable code design.
  • Experience with risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, and relevant job-specific technical skills.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and improve software using engineering methodologies to provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for customers and colleagues.
  • Develop and deliver high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools, ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration with business objectives.
  • Participate in peer collaboration and code reviews, and promote code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and contribute to technology communities.
  • Apply secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and deliver secure software solutions.
  • Implement effective unit-testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
  • Contribute to or set strategy, drive requirements, and make recommendations for change.
  • Plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage and maintain policies and processes; deliver continuous improvements; and escalate policy or procedure breaches.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise, guide technical direction, lead collaborative multi-year assignments, guide team members through structured assignments, identify the need for additional specialization, and train, guide, and coach less experienced specialists.
  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management, on functional and cross-functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work performed by the team.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work and business-aligned support areas to stay current with business activity and strategies.
  • Create solutions through sophisticated analytical thought, compare and select complex alternatives, define problems, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Apply extensive research outcomes to problem-solving processes.

Supermarket Income REIT secures $565M debt refinancing to cut costs and extend maturity

Supermarket Income REIT has secured a £445 million debt refinancing to lower borrowing costs and extend average debt maturity. The new facilities comprise a £375 million syndicate and £70 million bilateral arrangement, replacing all existing unsecured loan facilities maturing over the next two years. The refinancing includes four facilities ranging from three to five years, all with two one-year extension options. The average margin across facilities is 1.18% above the Sterling Overnight Index Average, delivering annual interest cost savings of approximately £300,000. The REIT has added Lloyds Bank and ABN AMRO as new banking partners whilst retaining relationships with Barclays, HSBC UK, ING and The Royal Bank of Scotland. The refinancing increases the group's weighted average debt maturity from 2.9 years to 3.8 years.
