Our Team
We’re a newly established mobile team with a number of native mobile projects currently in development and are looking to expand the team to meet new business objectives.
We’re building a team to work fluently, move fast and make a tangible difference in Energy tech. Our current projects span Electric Vehicles, Energy accounts, Smart home devices, Acquisitions and Engineer solutions.
You’ll be working to solve problems at a global scale. You’ll help define culture and processes necessary to work collaboratively and effectively across multiple product teams, whilst instilling good engineering practices for the team as a whole.
Our Technology
Being a fairly new team without the constraints of large legacy codebases has enabled us to make modern technology choices. All our apps are built with declarative UI (Jetpack Compose & SwiftUI), all our APIs are built in GraphQL, and we use a modern selection of libraries and software development techniques.
The mobile teamwork across multiple projects, some developed exclusively for Android and others for iOS, we make use of Kotlin Multiplatform in larger projects. We’re really excited by this cutting-edge technology and are enjoying the journey.

You’ll enjoy contributing across the whole development process including design, product management and stay on top of upcoming technologies that could benefit the business.
What you’ll do...
- Work in an autonomous team on complex problems.
- Engineers have a real say over what we build here and that’s exciting to you
- Build and own features used by millions of Octopus customers around the world
- Bring your ideas to the table to help shape the product roadmap
- Level up yourself and the people around you, working with less experienced team members to help them progress and make a bigger impact
- Work with product, design and other business stakeholders to scope, prioritise and deliver work
- Communicate your ideas regularly, helping to shape the technical direction of the project across multiple teams
- Wear many hats! We don’t put people in boxes here, we like to get involved in all aspects of the development cycle, from scoping to QA
- Help shape the developer experience for iOS engineers working in the codebase
What you’ll have...
- Shipped at least one app to the App store
- Proficient with Swift and have experimented with other programming languages
- Are keen to make use of new technologies like SwiftUI and GraphQL
- Can discuss vision and features within a team and propose creative solutions
- Are passionate about app architecture and can talk about the benefits and drawbacks of various patterns (MVC, MVVM, Redux)
- Knowledge of reactive libraries, offline storage, API integration, and testing
- Understanding of Apple’s design principles and interface guidelines
- Familiarity with source control best practices and continuous integration
- Are excited to explore cross-platform code-sharing solutions (whilst keeping the UI 100% native)
- Some knowledge of Kotlin and/or Android Development is a plus
- Passionate about great app design and user experience
