Requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience handling Personal Injury Protection (PIP) claims.
  • High School (HS)/GED or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Casualty claims role within P&C insurance industry.
  • Must hold an Adjuster licensed for all applicable states or obtain license(s) within 90 days of filling position as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Assigned as owning adjuster when injury exposure is identified for the first party, for files with reserves up to policy limits.
  • Handles first-party medical payments and Personal Injury Protection claims.
  • Negotiates, settles and resolves claims within authority level.
  • Assists in catastrophes as needed.
  • Claims may involve additional suffixes such as income continuation and essential services as well as death and funeral benefits for fatality claims.
  • Identifies and utilizes case management.
  • Investigates to rule out exposures: uninsured/underinsured motorist, subrogation, dram shop.
  • Makes coverage determinations and advises customers as to the proper course of action.
  • Handles all levels of litigated and arbitrated cases, to the most complex.
  • Directs defense counsel on suits and arbitrations and represents company at arbitration hearings.
  • Presents to committee on coverage issues, reserving and settlement authority.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Commercial lines of insurance.
  • BA/BS in business, insurance or related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possesses demonstrated technical knowledge and skills reflective of successful progression through job family levels.
  • Ability to function in a team environment as well as working independently with strong motivation and goal orientation.
  • Thorough knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance coverages (multi-state).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, time management and organizational skills.
  • Shows respect for differences through excellent communication skills with people from an array of backgrounds.
  • Bilingual a plus!
