Requirements
  • An undergraduate degree from a four-year college or university, or the equivalent of five years of full-time experience with at least two years in aging, Medicare, Medicaid, insurance, volunteer coordination, or related fields.
  • Knowledge and experience with human services programs.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Medigap, long-term care insurance, fraud, and abuse.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Office 365) or comparable skills.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Engaging interview skills, particularly with older adults, people with disabilities, and minorities.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to adhere to deadlines.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to develop community partnerships and work with staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • A valid state driver's license.
  • Ability to travel locally and attend off-premise meetings, conferences, or trainings.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in office, vehicle, outdoor, and off-site environments with varying temperatures and noise levels.

Responsibilities
  • Solicit, schedule, and participate in community, partner, and Legacy Link education and outreach events to achieve grant goals and objectives.
  • Assist with maintaining Georgia SHIP's social media presence on Legacy Link's website and Facebook account and with participating partners using materials approved by the Department of Aging Services.
  • Assist with recruiting and retaining community partners.
  • Complete and maintain State Health Insurance Assistance Program Medicare Counselor Certification.
  • Accurately and timely collect data and report monthly on outreach events and media activities in the Federal data system, STARS.
  • Provide Medicare counseling to the public, including plan comparisons for seniors and information about programs relevant to Medicare and ancillary issues.
  • Screen for eligibility and enroll Medicare beneficiaries in the Low Income Subsidy, Medicare Savings Program, Medicare Part D, and Medicare Advantage plans.
  • Assist the Coordinator in monitoring established program goals and objectives to ensure completion of all requirements.
  • Assist with special projects and outreach events sponsored by Legacy Link or the Department of Aging Services.
  • Schedule volunteers and trained staff to staff education events and outreach activities.
  • Maintain Legacy Link and Georgia SHIP resources, including books, audiovisual materials, equipment, and other resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Georgia SHIP Coordinator or Aging and Disability Resource Center Director.
