- Minimum of Ph.D degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or closely related field.
- Industrial experience is desired but not required.
- The candidate should have demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: modeling of planar lightwave circuits, which includes waveguide, mode converter, and/or grating couplers; modeling of plasmonic devices; and design of optical characterization tools for optical devices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a project in research and/or advanced development is desirable.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment are essential.
- Conduct research and development in the area of head development for Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR).
- Design of the optical system, including a planar waveguide, a mode converter, a laser diode, and a near-field transducer.
- Characterization of the optical system.
- Initiating and developing intellectual property.
- Publishing and presenting scientific results at conferences.
