Requirements
  • Proven experience conducting financial crime compliance advisory reviews of complex client relationships, transactions, and business activities within Corporate and Investment Banking environments.
  • Demonstrated experience providing risk-based recommendations and approvals for complex client and transactional scenarios.
  • Proven record of being an industry practitioner and subject matter expert.
  • Approximately 8–12+ years of experience across the core competencies required for the role.
  • Strong understanding of Corporate and Investment Banking business products and services, including Markets, Trade Finance, and Capital Markets solutions.
  • In-depth understanding of Payments, Trade, and Correspondent Banking.
  • Business transactional knowledge and financial crime compliance control expertise.
  • Proven record of working within a large multinational bank with global and regional exposure in a similar role.
  • Degree-level education.
  • Deep Financial Crime Compliance expertise with demonstrated experience assessing client relationships, transactional activity, sanctions exposure, and financial crime risks within Corporate and Investment Banking products.
  • Experience with financial crime compliance technology and control platforms, including screening, monitoring, and case management tools such as Dow Jones, Oracle, and Fenergo.
  • Experience designing and implementing global financial crime compliance operating models and governance frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and technology enablement capabilities, leveraging data, analytics, and emerging technologies to enhance financial crime screening, monitoring, and risk management processes.
  • Proficiency with productivity and digital tools, including Microsoft Office Suite and artificial-intelligence-enabled tools such as ChatGPT and Copilot.
  • Ability to balance commercial objectives with financial crime compliance risk considerations and provide clear, defensible recommendations in time-sensitive transaction environments.
  • Demonstrated strategic leadership capability, including influencing senior stakeholders, driving organizational change, and making risk-based decisions in complex environments.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while remaining collaborative, adaptable, and responsive to changing business priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and perform reviews of complex, high-risk transactions, client relationships, and business activities, providing financial crime compliance advisory opinions and recommendations to support informed business decisions and acting as a delegated representative of the Global Head of Financial Crime Compliance for Santander Corporate and Investment Banking where required.
  • Provide real-time financial crime compliance advisory support to Front Office, Operations, and Compliance partners regarding transaction structures, customer activity, sanctions considerations, anti-money-laundering risks, and financial crime typologies.
  • Provide expert judgment and risk-based recommendations on complex or escalated client and transaction matters where financial crime risk considerations may impact business decisions.
  • Perform testing activities over financial crime compliance controls, including reviewing artifacts and deliverables and performing technical data-testing activities as required.
  • Assist with leading engagement with regulators, internal audit, and senior governance committees on significant financial crime compliance matters and remediation activities.
  • Conduct horizon scanning and regulatory change management.
  • Drive operational adequacy and effectiveness of the Group Financial Crime Policy and Guides, working with Group and Country Financial Crime Compliance peers and acting as the key point of contact as required or directed.
  • Assist with the timely identification of opportunities to enhance the management and oversight of financial crime compliance risk and ensure appropriate action is taken by relevant parties to deliver improvements.
  • Develop and deliver training and awareness programs in coordination with Central Compliance, Group Financial Crime, the business, and Learning and Development.

Edenor raises $200M in third bond offering of 2025

Edenor, Argentina's largest natural gas distributor, raised $200 million through a re-opening of its 9.5% 2033 bonds on Thursday, marking its third international bond offering this year. The company priced the add-on notes at 99.326 to yield 9.65%. Bank of America, BTG Pactual, Santander and UBS served as bookrunners. Moody's assigned the notes an international B3 rating. Edenor said it intends to use the proceeds to refinance debt and fund investments and acquisitions. The company initially issued $550 million of the 2033 notes in April, following a re-opening of its 9.75% 2030 bonds in February. Local placement agents included Global Valores, Balanz Capital, Banco Mariva, Latin Securities and the Argentine branches of ICBC and Santander.

Banco Santander, BBVA and CaixaBank launch FrauDfense Check to strengthen the fight against financial crime across the sector. 15/06/2026 10:30 CEST Banco Santander, BBVA and CaixaBank, through their joint company FrauDfense, announced the launch of FrauDfense Check, the company's first-live operational service. It is open to participation from the entire Spanish financial sector and marks a milestone in the fight against financial crime. The service is launched following a pilot phase that demonstrated its capacity to detect millions of euros in fraud, supported by a high-performance technology platform. Madrid/Barcelona, 15 June 2026. FrauDfense, a company owned by Banco Santander, BBVA and CaixaBank, today announces the go-live of FrauDfense Check, its first operational service. This initiative highlights the pioneering and innovative role of the three institutions in promoting sector-wide collaboration models, positioning the Spanish financial industry as an international benchmark in fraud prevention. FrauDfense has developed an advanced, high-performance technology platform designed to operate in line with the most demanding banking standards. Building on this foundation, the company is launching a service aimed at preventing fraud befare it occurs through the secure exchange of information between financial institutions. Opening to other financial institutions. In this context, FrauDfense is opening participation to the entire Spanish financial sector, making the service available to new institutions and marking a milestone in the collective fight against financial crime. The addition of new participants will expand the reach and effectiveness of the collaborative model, strengthening customer protection and reinforcing a robust and coordinated response to financial crime. A service tested in real use cases with proven results. FrauDfense has built a collaborative ecosystem in which financial crime leaders and experts from majar Spanish financial institutions exchange information, analyse common patterns and design and promete joint actions against emerging threats. This collaborative model also provides key support in anticipating and facilitating compliance with the upcoming regulatory requirements under the European Payment Services Regulation (PSR), currently in the approval phase, which strengthens the obligation for payment service providers to share fraud-related information. The FrauDfense approach enables this to be done in a structured, secure and privacy-preserving manner, raising the overall level of protection across the financial system.
