Requirements
  • An Associate's Degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of product design experience is required.
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D computer-aided design software, including Inventor, CATIA, SolidWorks, or Creo, is required.
  • Experience in sheet metal or heavy fabrication design is required.
  • Experience in mechanical design and drafting is required.
  • Experience creating Bills of Materials and using Change Notice processes is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform mechanical designs and calculations under the direct supervision of an Engineer or Team Lead.
  • Assist in preparing mechanical designs for power and low voltage products.
  • Interact regularly with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Industrial Engineering staff.
  • Present technical information during design meetings or reviews.
  • Create and update 2D prints and 3D models for piece-part components.
  • Create and update 3D layouts of top-level and sub-level assemblies.
  • Prepare Bills of Materials and Change Notices to release components and assemblies.
  • Support the creation of technical manuals for operation and maintenance of related products.
  • Self-check work for accuracy against established drawing and design specifications and standards.
  • Provide technical assistance for prototype and pilot builds and production support as needed.
  • Work with suppliers to integrate various components into higher-level system designs.
  • Support service, aftermarket, and installation teams as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Five years of product design experience is preferred.
  • Experience with large 3D assemblies is preferred.
  • Experience with casting, machining, roto-molded components, or fiber-reinforced plastic components is preferred.
  • Experience with electrical components or equipment is preferred.
