Requirements
  • Knowledge of fire alarm equipment and Fire Alarm Control Panels.
  • Knowledge of basic office computer software such as Microsoft Office.
  • Skill in computerized equipment and control systems such as Simplex fire system environment, Siemens fire system environment, and ALC WebCntl (Automated Logic Corporation web-based building automation system).
  • Skill in written and verbal communications.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to use meters to measure volts, amps, and ohms, along with tools associated with electronic repairs.
  • An Associate's degree in a related field.
  • Six years of relevant experience.
  • The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • The successful candidate must be able to drive on occasion and, upon hire, immediately enroll in the New York State License Event Notification Service program.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the repair of fire alarm equipment on campus and ensure fire alarm and fire protection systems code compliance.
  • Assist in testing and servicing fire protection and fire alarm systems on campus and coordinate with building managers, third-party inspectors, and relevant campus departments.
  • Test and service fire pumps weekly in accordance with relevant rules and regulations.
  • Review new construction and renovation plans and specifications for fire alarm quality control.
  • Assist project managers with technical support and contractors with installation and removal of fire alarm and fire protection equipment.
  • Support campus safety departments with fire alarm and fire protection systems.
  • Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on interior and exterior fire alarm and electrical building components.
  • Provide contact information for an on-call phone listing and report to work during off-hours or urgent situations when required.
