Marriott to bring three Reef resorts in Playa del Carmen into Tribute Portfolio. 08-18-2026 6:26 am Marriott International is expanding its all-inclusive footprint in Mexico through a new agreement with The Reef Resorts that will bring three Playa del Carmen properties into its Tribute Portfolio. The Reef Playacar Beachfront Resort & Spa, The Reef 28 Adults-Only Luxury Hotel & Spa and The Reef Coco Beachfront Resort & Spa are expected to join Tribute Portfolio in 2027, following renovations scheduled to begin in late 2026. The agreement will add 676 rooms to Marriott's all-inclusive pipeline and mark Tribute Portfolio's debut in Playa del Carmen. "This agreement represents an exciting new chapter for The Reef Resorts & Spa," said Jorge Montalvo, president of the Board of Directors of The Reef Resorts & Spa, in a statement. "For decades, we have welcomed travellers to Playa del Carmen with authentic hospitality and a strong connection to the destination. By joining Tribute Portfolio Hotels portfolio under the all-inclusive concept, we will be able to preserve the unique identity of each resort while benefiting from Marriott's global reach, its Marriott Bonvoy loyalty platform, and expertise in the all-inclusive segment." Three resorts joining the portfolio. The 198-room Reef Playacar Beachfront Resort & Spa is located within the Playacar community and features guestrooms spread across two-storey villa-style buildings surrounded by tropical gardens. Amenities include a spa and wellness centre, multiple dining options, two swimming pools and a beach club, as well as wedding and event venues. Meanwhile, The Reef 28 Adults-Only Luxury Hotel & Spa brings an adults-only option to the agreement. Located near Playa del Carmen's Fifth Avenue, the 120-suite hotel features a rooftop restaurant and bar with ocean views, multiple dining venues, a swimming pool and a wellness spa with hydrotherapy experiences. The third property, The Reef Coco Beachfront Resort & Spa, currently has 198 rooms and is slated for a significant expansion. Expected to be completed in early 2028, the project will increase the beachfront resort's inventory to 358 guestrooms. Once complete, the property is expected to offer five dining venues, beach and poolside service, an outdoor swimming pool, full-service spa and fitness centre. The resort is also within walking distance of Fifth Avenue, giving guests access to Playa del Carmen's dining, shopping and entertainment offerings. Groups and events in focus. Beyond leisure travel, Marriott and The Reef Resorts & Spa are positioning the three properties to capture more meetings, events and group business. Together, the resorts are expected to accommodate approximately 900 attendees for meetings and events. The properties are also expected to build on their existing presence in the destination wedding market. "We are pleased to expand Marriott's all-inclusive portfolio in Mexico through the introduction of Tribute Portfolio to Playa del Carmen," said Alonso Burgos, VP of development, Caribbean and Latin America, Marriott International, in a statement. "This agreement underscores the continued strength of Mexico as a growth market for Marriott and highlights the value owners see in our all-inclusive platform. Through these three distinctive resorts, travellers will discover bespoke experiences that reflect the unique character of the destination while benefiting from the global power of Marriott Bonvoy." The agreement also advances Marriott's broader expansion of Tribute Portfolio across the Caribbean and Latin America. The brand currently has 10 properties representing 1,350 rooms across eight countries and territories in the region. Marriott expects Tribute Portfolio's footprint in the Caribbean and Latin America to double by 2027.
GLORIA MANOR joins Marriott Bonvoy, bringing nature-based travel to Kenting National Park. 18/08/2026 KENTING, Aug. 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - GLORIA MANOR, a nature-focused resort located within Kenting National Park in southern Taiwan, officially joined Marriott Bonvoy in 2026, becoming the first Marriott-affiliated resort in Southern Taiwan. The move connects the resort's historic setting and nature-based guest experiences with Marriott's global travel network, while maintaining its focus on the ecology, culture and communities of Kenting. Located at the foot of Mt. Dajian at Taiwan's southern tip, GLORIA MANOR was originally built as a presidential guesthouse. Today, the property is surrounded by tropical forests, grasslands and diverse ecosystems, while remaining within reach of Kenting town, beaches and other attractions. Its location allows visitors to move between the forest, coastline and local communities, offering an experience of southern Taiwan beyond its beaches and ocean scenery. Changes in the seasons also bring different landscapes and wildlife to the national park. The resort works with local ecological organizations to develop nature-based programs throughout the year. Guests can walk forest trails, explore the national park and coastline, and join guided activities focused on local plants, insects and Formosan sika deer. Seasonal programs include ecological exploration, Grey-faced Buzzard migration experiences and forest walks. These activities provide opportunities to learn about Kenting's biodiversity and the environment surrounding the resort. Local ingredients are also part of the experience. At MU RESTAURANT and MU LOUNGE, seasonal Taiwanese produce and locally sourced ingredients are used across breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner menus. The approach reflects the seasonal character of southern Taiwan while supporting local sourcing. Sustainability initiatives at GLORIA MANOR also include energy and carbon reduction, biodiversity protection, cooperation with local communities, and measures incorporated into everyday guest services. Reusable water bottles and take-home slippers are among the examples used to reduce reliance on disposable items. The resort's architecture and interiors reflect its natural setting and historical background. The redesign incorporates natural materials, understated tones and elements of Taiwanese craftsmanship, with mountain views, natural light and seasonal changes forming part of the overall environment. GLORIA MANOR is also a member of Design Hotels(TM), an international collection of independently operated hotels with a focus on design and local identity. The addition to Marriott Bonvoy provides GLORIA MANOR with access to an international membership network while retaining its existing approach to nature-based hospitality. For travelers from South Korea and other Asian markets, the resort provides another way to explore southern Taiwan, combining a stay within a national park with access to ecological activities, locally sourced cuisine and the surrounding communities. With its integration into Marriott Bonvoy, GLORIA MANOR is expanding its connection with international travelers while continuing to develop nature-based experiences in Kenting. Its location within Taiwan's first national park places the surrounding ecosystem, local food and community relationships at the center of the guest experience, offering an alternative perspective on travel in Southern Taiwan. 02/07/2026 18/08/2014 13/05/2026 27/04/2026 30/04/2026 Discover more Wearable technology Android OS Mobile & Wireless
