Requirements
  • 15+ years of experience in aerospace or mechanical engineering with a similar level of technical rigor
  • 2+ years in an engineering leadership role
  • BS+ in relevant engineering discipline (Aerospace, Mechanical, Civil, etc)
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals (structural mechanics, beam theory, laminate theory, dynamics, failure criteria, loads, etc) including hand calculation methods
  • Proficiency with commercial engineering analysis software related to the role (e.g. FEA, Thermal, CFD…etc) and methods (modeling techniques, failure criteria, etc.)
  • Familiarity with CAD software such as NX (preferred), Solidworks, CATIA, etc
  • Proficiency in drafting standards including GD&T, with an ability to generate/review engineering drawings for metal and composite parts and assemblies
  • Experience with the manufacturing methods and materials typical of high performance aerospace hardware and implementation Design for Manufacturing practices
  • Experience working with formal requirements and planning verification activities
  • Experience using mechanical test methods (from material development to structural components and full vehicle) to validate analysis models and to verify compliance with requirements

Responsibilities
  • Build a high performing engineering team of structural, thermal analysts
  • Develop and maintain the technical standards for engineering analysis practices, including modeling standards, analysis methods, documentation templates, and expectations for formal design reviews
  • Provide technical mentorship and appropriate training to build team proficiency
  • Work with Project Leads and Program Management to properly support programs with team resources
  • Select and maintain engineering tools appropriate for supported programs
  • Provide People Management services to team members - including performance reviews, career development support, routine one-on-one meetings, and feedback opportunities
  • Plan team resource needs, hiring, recruiting efforts, and technical interviews
  • Maintain a cohesive team across projects by holding routine group meetings to communicate information from the organization, lessons learned, and other improvement opportunities
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of FAA certification processes and the design of vehicle systems to formal requirements such as Part 23, 25, 27, or similar
  • Experience supporting production, including quality, with design updates to improve manufacturability and non-conformance dispositions and justifications
  • Experience with product sustainability support (field dispositions)
