Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Professional engineering registration is required, with the ability to obtain licensure in various states as needed.
  • At least 10 years of experience designing medium- or high-voltage power-distribution, generation, and/or transmission systems.
  • Proficiency in computer operation for power-engineering design programs, including power-systems modeling and SCCAF.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment by carrying out appropriate follow-through with others, mentoring, delegating work, and giving and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, project partners, and individuals at all organizational levels.
Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and project partners.
  • Own the overall power-systems design process on assigned projects.
  • Develop innovative and unique design solutions aligned with project, client, and project-partner needs.
  • Lead the team in implementing solutions across power, mission-critical, manufacturing, automotive, higher-education, pharmaceutical, federal, and institutional markets.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in medium- and/or high-voltage substation design.
  • Expertise in relaying, protection, and metering design incorporating microprocessor-based devices, including familiarity with programming and testing practices supporting start-up and acceptance testing.
  • Expertise in switchgear and substation automation sequences of operation.
  • Expertise in facilitating Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition implementation.
  • Experience coordinating with utility companies on points of demarcation, interconnect agreements, and design-standards compliance.
  • Experience with Distributed Energy Resources and renewable-energy generation.
  • Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems technology.
  • Experience with grid-scale photovoltaic technology.

Dubbed “Phase Five,” the new building is the second site net zero building on the company’s Research Triangle Park Campus, and the fifth overall in its sustainable portfolio. The 55,000-square-foot facility features a new warehouse designed to meet current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) for pharmaceutical products and boasts a microgrid-based electrical system designed to run without any fossil fuels via battery backup using two Tesla Megapacks. Among other things, the facility will be used to store and distribute the company’s newest drug-device combination product, Tyvaso DPI®, which was launched last year
