- At least 1 year of application development experience with combined MQI, Java Message Service, and Java or C programming experience.
- Good working knowledge of Unix and Windows operating systems.
- Working knowledge of WebSphere MQ product and fix-pack installations and version upgrades.
- Ability to administer WebSphere MQ using the command line.
- Proficiency in problem determination, troubleshooting, backup, and recovery.
- Working knowledge of MQSC commands, Distributed Queue Management, MQ channel configuration using different transmission protocols, and MQ clustering.
- Ability to configure security for WebSphere MQ queues and other objects for data access and administration using role-based security.
- Working knowledge of MQ monitoring tools such as Tivoli Omegamon.
- Working knowledge of MQ tracing.
- Knowledge of WebSphere Message Broker administration.
- Knowledge of AIX 5.3 or higher.
- Working knowledge of logical partition management and virtualization using VIO on AIX systems.
- Ability to provide 7x24 rotating on-call support.
- Ability to work outside normal 8-to-5 office hours, including weekends as necessary.
- Good communication and written skills.
- Administer WebSphere MQ version 6.2 and above on distributed Unix and Windows platforms.
- Manage, configure, and monitor MQ listeners, command servers, channel initiators, trigger monitors, MQ log files, and dead-letter queues.
- Configure MQ client applications and MQ clients.
- Provide rotating on-call support outside normal office hours, including weekends as necessary.
- Exposure to MQ monitoring tools such as Omegamon, Qpasa, BMC Patrol, or Candle.
