  • Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credentials.
  • No experience is required.
  • Hold ARRT-R Radiologic Technologist—Radiographer certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Hold CMRT Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist state licensure and Texas Medical Radiologic Technologist registration.
  • Hold Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification from the American Heart Association within six months.
  • Demonstrate the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job through ongoing skills and competency assessments.
  • Possess basic computer knowledge and operate hospital, radiology information, and office software systems to maintain patient and examination documents.
  • Adapt to multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision, organize workflow, and participate in problem-solving.
  • Speak, read, and write English proficiently enough to perform essential job functions affecting patient or employee safety and security.
  • Effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members, and coworkers.
  • Be available for on-call assignments.
Responsibilities
  • Perform interventional and therapeutic cardiac and electrophysiology procedures, including angioplasty, stent placement, rotablation, atherectomy, laser procedures, coronary ultrasound, ablations, and device implantation.
  • Perform fluoroscopy and cine imaging and recommend radiological techniques to maximize visualization of cardiac anatomy.
  • Scrub into Cath Lab cases and assist with equipment movement and alignment and radiation control.
  • Provide direct patient care, including positioning, procedure preparation, physiology-related care, and adjustment of technical factors to achieve desired imaging results.
  • Recognize and address complications and limitations associated with procedures.
  • Provide direct assistance to physicians during diagnostic and special procedures, including sterile technique.
  • Follow radiation safety standards and use patient radiation protection and immobilization during diagnostic procedures.
  • Maintain sterile and aseptic techniques and comply with infection-control, departmental, hospital, and job safety standards.
  • Report near misses and errors promptly, contribute to corrective actions and improvement activities, and help meet quality and safety targets.
  • Verify imaging equipment quality control and safe working order before use; report malfunctions, perform preventive maintenance, and request service when needed.
  • Document patient procedures accurately and completely and enter charges when services are delivered.
  • Use resources efficiently, manage time independently, and prioritize daily tasks.
  • Participate in department projects and shared-governance activities.
  • Pursue continued learning and development as a Cath Lab radiologic technologist.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of experience as a radiologic technologist with interventional experience is highly preferred.
