Requirements
  • A doctorate in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Security, or a related field and at least 3 years of experience in the software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, threat analysis or modeling, cybersecurity, vulnerability research, and/or anomaly detection; or a master's degree and at least 4 years of such experience; or a bachelor's degree and at least 6 years of such experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background checks upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.
Responsibilities
  • Lead with artificial intelligence to understand the threat landscape and the latest attacker tradecraft.
  • Track threat actors, including financially motivated threat actors, their infrastructure, their targets, and their shifting techniques, tactics, and procedures.
  • Translate complex technical findings into clear, prescriptive guidance for security operations teams, executives, and the broader defender community.
  • Partner with product, research, marketing, and communications teams to ensure high-quality intelligence experiences through Microsoft's customer-facing surfaces and managed services, including Agentic Security, Defender XDR, Defender Experts, Sentinel, blogs, and briefings.
  • Build and refine the pipelines, tooling, and workflows that allow Microsoft to stream insightful cyber threat intelligence to customers at machine speed.
  • Represent Microsoft Threat Intelligence in customer briefings, industry conferences, and cross-industry working groups.
Desired Qualifications
  • A doctorate in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Security, or a related field and at least 5 years of experience in the software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, threat analysis or modeling, cybersecurity, vulnerability research, and/or anomaly detection; or a master's degree and at least 8 years of such experience; or a bachelor's degree and at least 12 years of such experience; or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in cyber threat intelligence, threat hunting, incident response, or a closely related security discipline.
  • Experience creating threat groups, assessing connections between established threat groups, and communicating attribution assessments to internal stakeholders and customers in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated experience producing finished threat intelligence reporting for technical and/or executive audiences.
  • Working experience with Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Defender XDR or directly comparable security information and event management and extended detection and response platforms.
  • Understanding of adversary tradecraft, the cyber kill chain, MITRE ATT&CK, the Diamond Model, and structured analytic techniques.
  • Written and verbal communication skills demonstrated through a portfolio of public or customer-facing intelligence writing.
  • Experience tracking and defending against financially motivated threat actors.
  • Experience with endpoint, cloud, network, and identity-based attacks and datasets.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence tools and large language models, including building agents and skills for information security applications and pipelines.
  • Comprehensive operating-system security and internals knowledge.
  • Understanding of network protocols and analytical experience with network infrastructure data and telemetry.
  • Reverse-engineering experience with static and behavioral binary analysis.
  • Programming or scripting experience with Python, PowerShell, C#, C++, or similar languages.

Microsoft stock dips 0.6% as Maia 200 AI chip could launch in September with $50B quarterly capex

Microsoft fell roughly 0.6% on Tuesday following reports it could launch its next Maia AI processor as early as September. The company has not confirmed the timing but is clearly pursuing greater control over its AI infrastructure rather than relying on external chipmakers. The Maia 200 chip, manufactured by TSMC using a three-nanometre process, contains over 140 billion transistors and delivers 30% better performance per dollar than previous hardware, according to Microsoft. Deployment has begun in Iowa, with Arizona data centres next. The move addresses mounting AI costs from Copilot, Azure and OpenAI workloads. Microsoft shares traded at $502.61 on 11 August, 12.69% below the GF Value estimate of $575.66. The company expects roughly $50 billion in capital spending this quarter. Success hinges on whether custom chips can sufficiently reduce AI costs to justify the enormous investment.

ZoomInfo integrates B2B data with Microsoft Copilot Studio, Dynamics 365, Excel and Word

ZoomInfo has launched a connector for Microsoft Copilot Studio, enabling customers to access its B2B intelligence data directly within Microsoft 365 Copilot, Dynamics 365, Excel, and Word. The integration allows sales teams to use natural language to search companies, identify contacts, and enrich account information without switching between applications. The connector works through GTM.AI, ZoomInfo's data layer that connects to multiple platforms including Salesforce Agentforce, HubSpot Breeze, and Gong. In Dynamics 365, users can enrich records with verified contacts and intent signals. Excel users can generate target audience lists, whilst Word can create account plans using live ZoomInfo data. Access requires appropriate ZoomInfo accounts, Microsoft licences, and administrator approval. ZoomInfo reports customers save 11.5 hours weekly on account research using its intelligence platform, which covers 100 million companies and 500 million contacts.

Greg Abel may buy Microsoft stock despite Warren Buffett's decades-long avoidance due to conflict concerns
