Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
  • Five to seven years of operational experience in a healthcare facility are required, preferably combining outpatient and inpatient or ancillary experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and a human resources management system is required.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • The ability to communicate with all levels of employees, from administrative staff to other staff members, is required.

Responsibilities
  • Provide operational leadership for ambulatory practices, supporting shared governance and ensuring high-quality, coordinated, and patient-centered care delivery.
  • Partner with executive, clinical, and physician leadership to align care models, policies, and procedures with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee access and clinic operations, including scheduling, staffing models, room utilization, and patient flow, to optimize provider productivity and patient experience.
  • Coordinate nursing services and staffing plans, including contingency planning, to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant clinic operations.
  • Monitor and manage space, equipment, and resource utilization, and collaborate with Facilities and Clinical Engineering to ensure operational readiness.
  • Support practice growth through space planning, facility expansion, acquisitions, and integration initiatives, including participation in due diligence and transition planning.
  • Maintain effective communication and serve as a liaison between ambulatory services, department leadership, and medical group partners to ensure alignment and continuity of care.
  • Lead development and ongoing management of annual operating budgets, analyze variances, and use financial data to improve care delivery efficiency.
  • Partner with clinic leadership and finance teams to develop site-specific budgets and ensure alignment with organizational policies and standards.
  • Oversee expenses, payroll, and financial reporting processes to ensure compliance with human resources, regulatory, and financial policies, providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Ensure timely and accurate charge capture, collections, and on-site cashiering controls, including appropriate separation of duties and reconciliation practices.
  • Promote effective communication and collaborative working relationships among the service line, physicians, and departments.
  • Coach and mentor staff and leaders.
  • Identify and implement cross-training and changes in staff design and task distribution to promote more effective service delivery while ensuring care is safe, legal, and customer-service oriented.
  • Facilitate training for staff and physicians and optimize the use of software platforms and digital technologies.
  • Work with Human Resources to maintain workable staffing plans for areas reporting to the position.
  • Select and retain qualified clinical and administrative staff to carry out the service line's goals in accordance with organizational objectives.
  • Ensure management staff understand wage-and-hour laws and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and work with Human Resources to ensure compliance.
  • Provide support and training to leaders regarding union contracts.
  • Work with USC Care Medical Group to understand organizational staffing needs.
  • Manage employee activity, including hiring, promotions, performance evaluations, compensation, and performance management.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the leadership team and participate in appropriate huddles.
  • Lead business development activities for the service line, including hospital collaborations, physician outreach, continuing medical education programs, and community outreach.
  • Oversee existing and potential joint ventures or partnerships within the service line.
  • Ensure implementation of strategic business plans aligned with the service line's vision, strategic plans, and goals, and monitor performance.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, regulatory, and financial metrics, including oversight of registration, billing, documentation, and audit readiness.
  • Maintain policies and procedures supporting the scope of services and ensure each area meets standards of conduct.
  • Coordinate audit reviews, data collection, and reporting according to organizational policy.
  • Oversee quality activities directly with the lead clinical team and the USC Care Chief Nursing Officer, ensuring timely reports and follow-up.
  • Apply governing regulations, Title 22, and Joint Commission requirements to define and maintain standards of practice consistent with hospital standards.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a performance improvement program complying with Joint Commission, Title 22, and other applicable regulatory agency requirements.
  • Provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for the health system's cardiovascular services across inpatient, outpatient, surgical, procedural, and ancillary settings.
  • Drive service line growth, access, performance, quality, safety, patient experience, outcomes, financial stewardship, and standardization of care models through data-driven decision-making.
  • Partner with physician leadership to align clinical strategy, research, education, and innovation with system priorities.
  • Oversee program development, resource allocation, and operational efficiency across multiple sites of care.
  • Advance new service offerings and technologies, strengthen referral networks, and support the organization's position as a destination center for comprehensive cardiovascular healthcare.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in a related field, in progress or completed, is preferred.
  • Three years of operational oversight or experience in a cardiovascular service line, such as a catheterization laboratory, cardiology, or cardiac surgery, is preferred.
