Requirements
  • Technical skills to debug and operate day to day issues: coding experience Python and strong background in monitoring and alerting tools (Desired: Grafana, Prometheus - while we don't use it, experience in New Relic, Nagios, Datadog will be valued)
  • Experience working with AWS, Kubernetes, Github
  • Enjoy and have experience working on reverse engineering problems
  • Motivation about the challenge of building a OPx area from scratch (processes, systems, monitoring, governance, being on-call under a rotation schema)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. This is not a ticket based team, reaching out to team to help them improve their maturity is our key factor. Proactivity and ownership are a must
  • Pioneer attitude towards building a team from scratch: either setting up new tools, coming up with a policy or reaching out to a team proactively to work on a solution together
  • On-call experience solving escalations, using ticketing systems, emails and or phone calls in a timely manner
  • Managing strategic communications and relations with multiple teams
  • Taking initiative is your natural response
  • Analytics skills
  • Work experience in a start-up environment will be a plus
  • A team player
Responsibilities
  • Work on monitoring: we expect not only to build our own monitors, dashboards, but also define best standards on what and how monitoring should be done. Then use those standards to work with teams around ASAPP as to help them improve their monitoring maturity
  • Work on alerting: alerting is by itself a kind of art, the art of understanding the problem, the data and then creating thresholds that serve the alerting part
  • Incident Management: the team also has a great focus on incident management, not only will you be performing the tasks of being on call for Incident Commander but also are a critical part on making the process better
