The USM Department of Engineering seeks applicants for the position of part-time instructor to teach courses in all areas of engineering, including but not limited to electrical, computer, mechanical, and industrial engineering. We are also in search for an instructor to teach Engineering Tools: Circuit Simulation (ENG 187) for our Fall 2025 semester, beginning September 1st.
In general engineering, the areas of Introduction to Programming, Differential Equations and Linear Algebra, and Engineering Ethics and Economics.
In electrical engineering, the areas of Circuits Theory, Electronics, Electric Machinery and Controls, Analog and Digital Signals, Communications and Electromagnetics.
In computer engineering, the areas of Digital Logic and Microprocessors, Computer Architecture and Organization, Embedded Systems, Introduction to Programming, C++ Algorithms and Data Structures, and Operating Systems.
In mechanical engineering, the areas of SolidWorks certification, Materials Science, Statics, Dynamics, Strength of Materials, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Machine Design, and Vibrations.
In industrial engineering, the areas of Work Design, Facility Design, Human Factors and Ergonomics, Lean/Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control, Systems Modeling, and Operations Research.
Engineering Tools: Circuit Simulation (ENG 187) - An introduction to a circuit simulation tool such as PSpice or Multism and its use as a GUI schematics entry tool for circuit simulation, including DC, small signal AC, sinusoidal and transient analysis. Students will learn the basics of circuit simulation and use it in hands-on lab exercises to gain enough experience to draw, simulate and do virtual testing of their circuit designs.
We are seeking student-focused instructors who will have full responsibility for course delivery and grading. Preference is given to candidates who are able to teach on-site in Gorham, Maine, but candidates who can only teach remotely online will be considered. Please indicate in your application whether you are able and/or willing to teach on-site. The instructor will be provided with the course learning objectives, program competencies, and suggested topical outline and will be given a previous course syllabus available for reference.

Required Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate degree in engineering, computer science or a related discipline, and demonstrate experience in the subject matter of the course(s) to be taught.
- Preference will be given to applicants with teaching experience and/or advanced degrees in those areas.
