Requirements
  • Prepare written reports, read and comprehend policy documents, maintain a logbook, and interact effectively with customers.
  • Possess strong interpersonal, customer service, and basic computer skills.
  • Hold WHMIS certification and Standard First Aid Level C plus AED certification, or complete them as a condition of employment.
  • Provide a clear criminal record check at the applicant's own expense.
Responsibilities
  • Perform cleaning duties, including stripping and waxing floors and steam cleaning carpets and equipment, using small operating equipment such as automatic floor cleaners.
  • Provide janitorial services by cleaning and sanitizing public washrooms, floors, walls, tiles, toilets, urinals, rooms, bleachers, and waste containers.
  • Maintain facility supplies and assist with stockroom and inventory activities.
  • Set up and remove tables and chairs as required.
  • Act as the senior facility operations person when assigned, including carrying out basic safety measures and serving as Fire Warden for the facility.
  • Provide customer service regarding facility maintenance issues for internal and external clients when senior staff is unavailable.
  • Liaise with permit holders or tenants to ensure facility maintenance needs are met during rentals.
  • Open or close the facility and ensure that the building is secured.
  • Perform basic building maintenance as required by the facility, including maintaining pool and filter systems, backwashing, taking chemical readings, maintaining and operating basketball and volleyball equipment, setting up and taking down meeting rooms, removing snow with snow blowers, and power washing exterior laneways or equipment.
  • Log all incidents occurring in programs and facilities and notify appropriate staff as required.
  • During assigned shifts, delegate minor work assignments to more junior operations staff.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with thermostats, timers, safety equipment, enunciating panels, industrial equipment such as carpet cleaners, and building security keypads.
