Requirements
  • Completion of the START Tech Electrician IV or Reliability Technician A training program is required.
  • Candidates must follow all company and plant-specific safety policies.
  • Candidates must pass certification for driving powered industrial trucks, including forks, squeeze trucks, pole trucks, articulating lifts, and scissors lifts.
  • Candidates must complete and follow all applicable Shaw SAFE training requirements.
  • Candidates must be able to work 8-12 hour shifts and overtime as necessary, up to 7 days.
  • Candidates must possess good computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Internet searching.
  • Candidates must meet all requirements to drive or operate a company vehicle on company business.
  • Candidates must successfully pass a vision screen for driving powered industrial trucks.
  • Candidates must be able to walk and stand for extended periods, lift, push, pull, and carry loads up to 50 pounds without assistance, and frequently bend, stoop, squat, grasp, and reach.
  • Candidates must be able to work with hands and arms extended overhead and repeatedly climb stairs and ladders.
  • Candidates must be able to work in temperatures exceeding 100 degrees for limited periods, in elevated environments, and in industrial environments with elevated noise, dust, dirt, humidity, and temperature variations.
  • Candidates must be able to operate hand and power tools and equipment, including in areas of limited space.
  • Candidates must be able to work outdoors, on facility roofs, near moving electrical machine parts, and near live electrical systems.
  • Candidates must attend required training and development classes and comply with company policies and attendance requirements.
  • Candidates must have a satisfactory work history as defined in the personnel file.
Responsibilities
  • Perform assistant-supervisor duties for the Maintenance Supervisor by supervising and assigning staff based on workloads and schedules.
  • Oversee repairs to equipment, machinery, and facilities.
  • Develop, interpret, and implement policies and procedures.
  • Ensure staff are trained in electrical maintenance activities and follow standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor and participate in operations for assigned areas, including inspecting projects and developing and implementing modifications and improvements.
  • Recommend contract specifications and scheduling, and inspect contractor work to ensure safe work practices and standard operating procedures are followed.
  • Ensure required plant personal protective equipment is used and maintained in good repair.
  • Coordinate safety training for maintenance personnel as needed.
  • Work with the supervisor and manager to drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Use the PeopleSoft procurement system to order job-related parts and supplies.
  • Use the Maintenance Work Order System and total productive maintenance system to set up and receive work instructions.
  • Maintain the Maintenance Work Order System.
  • Schedule and organize work orders under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Communicate with department managers and supervisors to clarify work orders.
  • Assign work orders to specific maintenance employees.
  • Follow up on assigned work orders to ensure efficient and timely completion.
  • Inspect work for completeness.
  • Train technicians at equivalent or lower levels to perform tasks successfully and safely.
  • Improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively to provide quality customer service.
  • Assume all duties and responsibilities of the Maintenance Supervisor in the supervisor's absence.
  • Work the normal schedule, including weekends and holidays as required.
  • Lead, supervise, and provide training and guidance to lower-level technician-electricians.
  • Report quality, safety, and potential production problems to management.
  • Perform all job duties safely without bodily injury to self or others.
  • Maintain and update lockout/tagout procedures through Brady software.
  • Follow up on assignments to ensure they are completed and working properly.
  • Attend required meetings and shift first-day-back safety meetings.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices.

  • Verifiable experience performing electrical and/or mechanical work.
  • Verifiable experience repairing machinery.
