Senior Engineer

 We are seeking a highly passionate, skilled and experienced [Senior] Node.js Backend Developer or Full Stack Developer to join our talented development team. This role is integral to the design, development, and maintenance of our IIoT solutions. While the primary focus is on backend development using Node.js, we value versatile developers with full-stack capabilities. Job Summary 

• Candidate will work on IIoT relevant software product development and will play a key role in Discrete Automation IIoT Engineering & Innovation group to develop smart software solutions for the industrial market and to shape the current and future EMERSON Digital Transformation product portfolio.
• SW Engineer-IIoT will report functionally to Technical Lead, Intelligent Automation at Emerson Innovation Center Pune.
• To help accelerate the availability and maturity IIoT solutions related to Emerson product portfolio with a focus on IIoT relevant protocols such as OPC UA and MQTT.
• This role will be responsible for evaluating architectures and solutions. It will also include ideation with Engineering stakeholders and prototyping of solutions using common IIoT platforms and protocols.
• This role will become a key member of the global, cross functional and agile Intelligent Automation development team.

For This Role, You Will Need:

• Confident with Linux and Windows operating systems 
• Familiar with bash scripting on Linux and good understanding how to use a CLI 
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design and development.
• Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL (TimescaleDB) or others.
• Familiarity with IIoT protocols and technologies such as MQTT, OPC UA, Modbus TCP or similar.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Docker Compose, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with Jira for project management and test and defect lifecycle management.
• Proficient with version control systems, particularly Git.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and capable of scoping with international stakeholders.
• Closely coordinate with other departments and stakeholders
• Familiarity with common Linux and Windows operating systems and general commands
• Solid understanding of software development fundamentals
• Strong understanding of data networking and security concepts
• A willingness to learn is critical

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable backend services using Node.js.
• Develop and integrate APIs to facilitate data communication between devices, backend services, and user interfaces.
• Collaborate closely with product owners, designers, and other developers to deliver high-quality features and functionalities.
• Design and implement data storage solutions using timeseries databases suitable (PostgreSQL / TimescaleDB) for IIoT data.
• Optimize application performance and ensure high availability and scalability of the backend infrastructure.
• Conduct code reviews to maintain high standards of code quality, performance, and security.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in the IIoT and software development space.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior developers.
• Contribute to the full software development life cycle, from planning and architecture to testing and deployment.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• xperience in full stack development with proficiency in front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines Gitlab or Azure DevOps.
• Understanding of security best practices in an IIoT context.
• Experience with real-time data processing and analytics.
